You might have never heard of the 06 Milled Putter line before today but we think you might be hearing more about them pretty soon. This year they received a Golf Digest Hot List Finalist Award and from what we hear there are some pretty big names on the PGA Tour are testing out their putters right now

06 Milled Putters – It’s All About The Hosel (Deep Set Hosel™)

Hosel influence is often overlooked by putter designers. We know, we can take a given putter and attach the same or different style hosels at various locations on identical heads, and the putter will react and perform differently, though the heads are identical.

Therefore the hosel has great influence on overall performance.

Blades are elongated and have a tendency to want to roll open making it a challenge to keep the face square to the arc though out the stroke for many players. Plumber necks are not designed to resist this because they have a relatively small footprint at the head connection virtually creating a pivot point.

So, what if we were to re-shape the hosel and then orient it along the target line and set it deeper into and across the head? Thus, if hosel’s influence performance, an arched shaped hosel with an increased footprint along the target line would be a positive step toward influencing better “on line” swing. The path would become more consistent, limiting face rotation more often, and the stroke transition would become flawlessly smooth, while deepening the feel because the hosel can now better support impact.

Led In Birdies and Eagles On Nationwide Tour

06 Golf Company, is bringing blades to the next level by pioneering a line of innovative tour level performance blades with arched shape hosel’s with increased footprints across the head, set in traditional player accepted shapes. Predicted to explode onto the scene by a PGA Tour Radio personality, a few samples made their way onto the Nationwide Tour in late 2008, only to lead the field in birdies and eagles for the week while significantly lowering each player’s Putts Per GIR. Additionally, two of the original proto’s, were named Finalists in the 2009 annual Golf Digest Hot List and the flawless performance has been endorsed by a recognized world top 5 instructor because ”…… the face will not look offline whether your stroke is inside, outside, or down the line”; the face remains square.

Why Is This Concept Getting Attention?

Why is this concept attracting so much attention in the industry? Beyond using the physical properties of shape to create near perfect swing, players also have a visual benefit that no other blade on the market offers. Most players because we stand to the side, unknowingly align 8-12” left of target on 20 footers, put a perfect stroke on it, and miss left. Deep Set Hosel™ blades offer a visual linear reference along the inside edge of the ball, so he/she can feel where left is; and adjust accordingly. The player can now set themselves into a no angles set up along that visual; breeding consistency and more holed putts. A plumber neck hosel cannot provide this level of visual or physical performance.

Additionally, these tour proto’s are wholly machined near Carlsbad, CA, from a block of 10L17 carbon steel with the face wall calibrated to feel responsive and alive. The soles are configured to assure the putter sits square at address, the face is fly cut to ensure the ball rolls true, the hosel absorbs impact providing the deepest solid feel imaginable, and the bead blasted non glare finishes are offered in tour platinum and black star to meet a variety of players tastes. They have exceeded player’s expectations each time they were tested.

We are also working additional concepts beyond the Deep Set Hosel line, that will also improve a player’s stroke and perception. If our testing is any indication, then in the summer of 2009 the golf world is about to CHANGE in a big way because of HSR. Blade and mallet Proto’s are scheduled to be hitting the Nationwide Tour this summer and a soft release of multiple price points later in the year.
