I saw the 11 line back in October and hit all of it as well. This years line is clearly one of the best they’ve put out in a while! Big difference between the iz/FT9 and Razr Hawk. Totally different feel and sound as well. Proto blades are very similar to the muscleback blades but are both unbelievable clubs! I’ve got the Razr forged in route and can’t be more excited! Nice job Callaway for leading the industry in R&D!

Callaway have had a good year with their endorsements, and Taylormade not a bad one, (2 each) but PING must be the happiest – more winners than anyone plus the best major and the best golfer in the world.
Its all about profits guys – Tiger plays Nike for this reason but also they will do anything he asks to adapt his woods, clubs, putter, and ball to suit his needs – It would be interesting to see them in a $50M winner takes all comp and see which clubs they took to the wire without endorsements!
ProV1 is the number one ball because of endorsements, and yet their on the market – the field is getting tighter and you just have to think – I like the look of what I bought in my bag and forget the hype.

I just thought shouldn’t Callaway have dubbed these the new RAZR BACKS?

These are not the new Razr forged iron. These are exactly what they look like as in the “Protoype” blades, which Callaway are heavily discounting. I have seen a set for £350 brand new. The Razor forged has a bit of perimiter weighting.

Callaway did a nice job with the X-Series Irons for the average player. A 10-20 Handicap would have a hard time finding a better iron. Everybody seems to making a new blade. They are competing for a piece of a very small market for those that play a little better and like blades. I’ve used Titleist MB Blades for a long time and I love them. I can’t wait to buy the new driver. It will be the most I’ve ever spent on a driver.

HI there,
Every company today is actually fooling around with golfers to make money. Guys do not forget that the equipment that we are playing today is all bcos of callaway. They changed the game the and made it more easier for all. I believe no one can make better irons than callaway , they are the most easiest and accurate irons in the golf industry. The callaway driver line for 2011 is amazing , the new RAZR HAWK DRIVER is making waves in INDIA. I my self use FT TOUR driver its amazing. All other companies are compromising accuracy making the clubs as light as possible but callaway is finding ways keep both in control. Let it be anything its Callaway all the way for me. They are toooooooooooooooo good clubs to play.

Why doesn’t everyone stop buying these overpriced OEM clubs and go back to good ol component clubs. Most of them have a better range of clubs and your not stuck with the OEM shaft range. If you want their prices to fall quickly steer clear of them all together.
Merry christmas everyone

I have pretty much given up and Callaway as well. I had the X Driver (I believe), then switched to FT-5, then to FT-I IMIX Driver (only bec Callaway cleared them out last Thanksgiving for $25 head and $25 Fubuki Shaft). I’m about a 12 handicap so I know my swing has a lot to do with the products maybe not working the best for me, but Taylormade has been kicking Callaway’s butt. I don’t typically buy the latest and greatest due to costs, so I wait a little longer for price drops. I Purchased R7 irons late in 2009 and got R7 limited driver earlier this year. The feel and results from Taylormade products has made me a believer. Plus Callaway price points are way too high in my opinion. The only club I have really liked from them as of late is the new Octane Tour 3W (15*). Now that is one club I would love to play. But the price point is too high for me. I highly recommend that club though. Great feel and my distances are 235-245 yds with accuracy. Sometimes longer than the driver.

I was reading the current posts on the new Callaway RAZR irons……the only material that really stood out to me was someone’s comment that GMAC maybe up for switching teams???
Is this speculation or the real deal? And if it is true who’s jersey will GMAC be wearing this coming season???

my callaway rep stopped in a couple of weeks ago. my staff and i were all shocked at the new 2011 line. its all basically identical from last years line. the putters are more of the same and the octane will be a joke as will the razr hawk driver that is a copy of the ft iz. i will say the only callaway items that i will maybe be able to sell are the new gps upro mx which is really nice and they have the two blade putters that might get a look. also the razr mid sized tour iron was o.k.as was the black ion x glove. i can already tell that these dart putters are dust collectors and the balls are hard enough to sell. i just hope for another solid year from taylor made and i cant keep the titleist driver in stock.

Agreed, theres nothin new about their line up. Razr Hawk is just an FT-9, Octane is just a Diablo. Have they cut costs in R&D during the downturn?

If they lower the price they were charging for the prototype irons then it’s a good idea. I wanted to try these irons but if they are still out of sight why change the name other than playing the bait and switch scam. You know callaway always looking out for it’s customers.

I wouldn’t call ’em lazy….. they are obviously working VERY hard to come up with new and improved ways to resell the same clubs with minor visual changes to consumers and convince them they are hitting it longer, farther, straighter than EVER before!!

I think buyers will prefer the ‘prototype’ monicker but I imagine Callaway will say ‘the new RAZR irons will SHAVE shots off your game’… yuck, and the wedges will come in BLUNT, RUSTY and for the tour player CUT-THROAT…. I posted a similar comment on Golfwrx but no-one thought it was funny, so I’ve recycled my joke lol… I do my bit for the enviroment.

less anyone think different rocco mediate walked away from callaway because they are stagnet in there technology. to most people this would mean there putting garbage in tour players hands{by the way he won 3 weeks later without callaway equipment} and furthermore graeme mcdowell about this time next week will be wearing a different company’s hat. the brain trust at callaway didnt want to pay his new rate because they are dumping 8 figures into mickelsons wallet. and do you think phil would be with callaway for a penny less than he’s getting now.

gmac is currently lining up some pretty nice endorsement deals. both he and jim furyk had career years on contract years so theres nothing like good timing. all i know for sure is gmac is out at callaway. the rumor is srixon will scoop him up with furyks money free’d up. i doubt he will part with the odyssey putter though.
