FIRST LOOK! – Adams 9064LS Driver
Adams 9064ls Driver

READ REVIEW – “No single driver we’ve tested this year comes close to matching the Adams 9064LS as far as the opinions of our testers are concerned!”

Adams 9064LS Driver

Back in 2008 we gave you a glimpse at what we predicted would be the next big thing in driver head technology…and that was AERODYNAMICS.  And as you can see by the multitude of manufacturers recently incorporating it into one or many of their designs…our prediction was spot on.  And Adams Golf lead the pack with this most recent improved technology.  And they are at it again with this newest model…the Adams 9064LS Driver you see pictured above.

Black…It’s The New Silver!

But this time they are going all black.  This trend to going to an all black finish has been increasing steadily over the years…at first it was mostly a tour thing but now many of the OEM’s are developing the all black look for the public as well.  Adams has been pumping out plenty of the all black models for some time although even companies like Callaway are getting in the mix with their latest release of the Callaway X-24 Irons.

What To Expect From This Driver

This version is supposed to be a mix between the Adams Speedline Fast 10 we reviewed back in March the Adams 9032LS (Bigger Head) and the Adams 9015 (Lower Spin) which had quite the cult like following…including myself.  Still one of the best drivers I have hit in the past few years. And we can’t wait to hit this one as well.  It is no secret that we really like what Adams Golf is doing the last couple years in regards to their product development.  They seem to be one of the only companies who really listen to guys like you from the blogs and forums.  They sure try to give you what you want out of a golf club.

QUESTION: Will you be giving this club a try when it is released and what do you think about the trend of all black finishes on clubs?

Hello from Canada. Comments for 9064LS with Aldila Rip shaft. Have hit a few in the last few days, indoors. Seems like you need to try 4 or 5 to get one with a really solid feel and tight dispersion. But once you get that one in your hands, this club and this shaft feels awesome, super solid, great sound, tight dispersion and 4 or 5mph more club head speed from other OEM suppliers. I plan on getting a 9.5 degree head and then having a Rip shaft direct from Aldila installed locally. Hope it works out.

just following up on my last post. i tried the x stiff and swinging harder resulted in the same distance as an easier swing with the stiff flex, so i have stayed with the stiff flex and am loving this driver. it has almost no sound and just springs off the club face with low spin. that in combination with a nice smooth swing has resulted in definite yardage gain. there is also very little reverberation with a very soft feel. this club might not be for everyone but it is a keeper for me.

I thought that i should update my previous post quickly. I have now hit the 9064LS 8.5 Alpha stiff three separate sessions today and just got back from the night range. The Alpha stiff shaft is listed as being 2.9 torque and 60 grams and my swing speed is between 105 and 110mph, and the tip of this shaft might not be stiff enough for me after all. After this night session i looked at tee marks and ball marks on the head and payed closer attention to shot dispersant and i could see that a stiffer tip would be better. I am going to find out if the xstiff has a stiffer tip and by how much because i would like even more accuracy than i am experiencing. I would caution anyone with good club head speed to go stiffer. I wonder whether a .350 shaft tip wouldn’t be better for drivers in general because of the twisting of a smaller diameter. 2.9 torque is pretty low and there is definitely some twisting with the stiff, better than the Wasabi but not quite enough stiffness. I think Adams likes to set up their clubs to be swung smoothly and easily because I’ve noticed with all their stock setups the easier you swing the better the accuracy and feel. Once you start to try to rip the stiff flex it twists pretty good, and I’ve played stiff shafts for years. I’ll keep you posted on the results.

I Just received and hit the Adams 9064LS 8.5 Alpha stiff and i really like this club. Looks are geared toward a younger crowd but I’m 47 and i dig it. The stock grip is a tour velvet type that is fairly soft feeling and tacky. The shaft is really cool with great graphics that are kind of raised up and it is menacing looking. The RIP Alpha has a great feel with a fairly stiff tip, much better than the Wasabi on the Fast 10 driver. It definitely has a low trajectory which i prefer and the shot dispersion is much better. The shaft is exactly what i was looking for and along with the 8.5 it was the perfect trajectory for me. The feel and sound is similar to the Fast 10 but the looks are so much better in my opinion and with the RIP shaft it is the perfect combo. The yardage was similar to the Fast 10 but with the setup that i have now i got much more roll, about 15-20 yards more roll. I think i needed the lower trajectory and lower spin because i am not getting any ballooning with this setup. I now have all Adams woods: 9064LS driver Fast 10 fairway, Idea Black hybrids, and i am sold on this company, great products that perform incredibly well.

      David,

I too am planning on getting the 9064LS w/the RIP Alpha X-flex shaft.(I have 113 mph ss) But do you think it would be wise to go with the stock 60g or upgrade it to the same shaft but in 70G? It’s actually 11 g heavier & 2.4 torque vs 2.7

I appreciate your input since you are alreday playing it.
      Thanks!

Adams is having a Demo Day at Golfsmith in Raleigh on Saturday, 8/7. I wrote to their contact page to ask if they were bringing this club and would it be for sale. I have not received an answer from them yet.

I sure hope they will and it is on sale, because if it is as far by the Fast 10 as the fast 10 is by the original Speedline for me, I will pick up over 19 yards. I hit the Fast 10 9.5 yards farther ON AVERAGE than my original Speedline.

I am definitely getting this one as soon as it is available. I have tried the Fast 10 vs. my own Speedline drive, and the Fast 10 is definitely longer. I am going to leapfrog a generation and go to the 9064LS and fairway wood.

I have ordered an Adams Pro Black MB 6-iron to try out, as I prefer a true blade, and now that my game is back, I am going back to them. Now, with Adams new line, I am going to black in a very good way.

      Great review!

Sounds like we have si,ilar setups, being mostly Adams bags. I like what I hear onthe 9064LS. Hasve not had a chance to try it out yet. Just had a heart attack/stint plkacement Monday, so it will be a few eeeks before I am released to swing away. I can’t wait!

P.S. — I just got my new Idea Pro Black MB irons, but I custom-ordered the Precision Project X Flighted shafts. The black KBS shaft that is standard in the palyers clubs from Adams will not last long in the market. They look great, but are too tip-soft. The trajectories are too high, and the dispersion pattern is too wide. I believe that Adams will not seel the current black KBS shaft and will switch to a stiffer tip for better players that use players clubs.

I have the driver and it is awsome! The 9064 fairway looks pretty strange but the driver is great! All black with silver markings.

Don’t hold your breath… they may intend to launch quickly but if they encounter production delays like every other product they’ve put out in the past 2 years, they’ll miss the boat again. My CB2’s have been delayed 2 months now

Did you order via Golfsmith or some other dealer?

I am thinking of ordering CB1s myself, but want to know about delivery before I do.

P-Gunna – I am interested to see how this does against the G15. The G15 is kind of the barometer for this year in regards to performance.

im sold on ADAMS hybrids, specifically the pro black which i have bagged since late last year but for whatever reason they have not got it done in the driver category.i have over 10 years in the industry as a club pro/teaching pro/ tournement head/sales rep+retail and i yet to see a top shelf company’s driver depreciate in value as much as ADAMS offerings{although cleveland is quickly heading down the same road}.part of the issue falls on authorized retail locations that push ADAMS drivers over others because ADAMS at least i know used to offer salesman the best “spiffs/cash incentives” in the business. then you have a situation to where guy’s are moving product that might not be the best fit to the customer. ADAMS also has some of the best price points in the industry which in turn make them an attractive sell. i mean right now you can find a fast 10 for $100-$150 anywere.

Looks nice. I tried the Fast 10 and lost yards. I continue to game a 9015d. It is the best out there, IMHO. I’ll try this one!!!

nice looking, but I like the new Titleist 910 much better. Adamas will probably go with some goofy color and ruin it.

I’d like to give this a try. I was NOT impressed with the stock Speedline driver at all. I lost 10 yards and dispersion went all over the place compared to my Dymo. But since I like the idea of improved aerodynamics for drivers, I’m definitely going to keep my eyes and mind open. :) Oh, and I like the all black look. Not so busy looking when you are trying to concentrate on a minimum of 300 separate swing thoughts.

Remember – Any swing change works for a maximum of 3 holes and a minimum of not at all.

I love the fact that Adams listens to the online community and tailors its products as a result. Adams has an opportunity to become a real enthusiast brand that bolsters that business with their amazing hybrids and iron sets. I proudly play a bag full of Adams clubs (except my irons because I won’t give up my Hogans until they deteriorate).

This is one of the reasons we like Adams new products over the last couple years. They seem to be based after what the hard core golfer wants to see. And so far they are delivering.

really quite good looking…alot like the new titleist but i like this better. it would be even better if they introduced some dark red, or another accent color like the gold/yellow on the black hybrid. i would absolutely give this one a swing or two if i had the chance. the black club thing is awesome in my opinion, but i wish they could find a finish that didn’t wear away . then the black clubs would be perfect
