ANNOUNCEMENT: MyGolfSpy’s 2015 “Golf’s Most Wanted” Driver Test

A Most Exciting Time

This is it guys. The one you wait for each and every year.

Invitations for MyGolfSpy’s 2015 Most Wanted Driver Test have been sent. The countdown has begun.

3…2…1

For 2015, we’ve reached out to 16 different golf companies, which means this year’s test has the potential to exceed 30 individual entries. We fully expect to feature more drivers than ever before.

Although it’s still early in the process, nearly half of the companies we’ve invited have already committed to participate. We’re highly confident that number will increase significantly by the time testing begins. Of course, as is always the way of it, we’ve had one company decline to participate, and two more which I’d simply say are leaning against participating.

As we get closer to the start of actual testing, we’ll be sure to let you know which companies are eager to participate, which are avoiding the competition, and which products we’re going to test regardless.

Better Because of You

After our 2014 test, we took your feedback to heart, and we elicited help from R&D teams at several of the biggest names in golf to help us refine our process. To those who took the time to work with us, and to help us get better; thank you. Sincerely. It’s impossible to overstate the value of the contributions our readers and the industry as a whole have made towards helping us make MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted test the absolute best in the industry today.

This year’s test will be better because of you.

Some of the improvements we’ve made will be obvious, impossible-to-miss type stuff, while additional behind the scenes enhancements will ensure that our 2015 test won’t simply be bigger and better; MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted will be the definitive guide that empowers you with the knowledge to find the right driver for your game in 2015.

You deserve nothing less from us.

More Details To Come

For now, we’re being intentionally vague about of the details. Once clubs start arriving and testing gets underway, we’ll be updating this post to:

  • Let you know which companies are in, and which are actively avoiding our test
  • Share more news about the test
  • Answer whatever questions you may have

Support MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted Testing

Best workup on clubs anywhere and you cover it for all types of players, Love how you break it down by swing speeds. Thanks

Pay you to buy clubs for yourselves. This is a joke? Why don’t you do more spying on new products and less opinions. Boo

I can’t wait to see the test results already !
I would like to see the Srixon Z545 & 745 and Titlleist 915 D3 in the list. If company don’t want in, would you include them ( if driver is donated, by popular demand) in the list? or would you reject it like last year.
Also , if possible, can you show each drivers’ C.O.R in the test ? ( C.O.R measured by you or others, but not by Driver Manufactures). I just want to avoid a Driver in the test that may show up hotter ( above C.O.R limit) than Jessica Alba.
BTW today, minutes after your post about Driver Test came out, all the Metal Grinders at HomeDepot started to sell like hot potatoes.
Thank you for your hard work.

As great as these tests are, I hope that you guys can expand it to everything else (like hybrids, irons and wedges)

Hopefully the Grenade driver from Bombtech has been invited! Sully makes a great club!

Bombtech was invited last year, thats how they got on the map. They sent out a video showing a golfer hitting there club 20 yards longer then the SLDR!!!! What a joke!!! I don’t think they will show up this year either, it’s eaiser to make videos that they don’t have to prove. I wish they would show up to compete head to head and see where they land.

Well you Bombtech fans I just received on Facebook that he won’t be sending any drivers.I am sure that your all as disappointed as I am. I TRULY believe that he makes a real good driver. He thinks that I don’t like him because I am negative about his claims and videos that lack important imfo. The truth being I have talked to him on the phone last year and I think he’s a great guy. I only wish that he would roll the dice and send a driver because if Bombtech could come in the top 5 his business would EXPLODE!! I would love that for him!!

Agree with the advice comment or re different spin numbers. Noting high, low or mid spin along with the swing speed break down would make it support helpful. Love the reviews.

Okay, you got me. I’m going to donate in the hopes that my funds might offset the costs of including a couple of manufacturers who traditionally DON’T want to participate. (Cough, cough, Titleist, cough, cough.)

I really want to see the 915’s in the field because I think they have a shot at doing really well this year (whereas the 913 had no such hopes). I’d also like to see the Srixon z545.

Gold stars to the Titleist 915 D2; Spieth hit 86% of his fairways in routing a solid field. The Aussie Open wasn’t too shabby, either.

Looking forward to the results and seeing the clubs tested too. Always a great read. But I’d really like you to update your site – the drop down categories at the top – and update the drivers tested there too. It was a really nice feature but you’ve dropped that format over the past few years unfortunately. Hopefully you can tie it all back together. In any case looking forward to your results.

When do anticipate getting the results on the website ?

We’ll have a better sense of that once we have the clubs in hand and the testing starts. Given the holidays, the PGA show, and crunching that needs to be done once testing is wrapped up, sometime in the February-March timeframe is likely.

Great ,I will hold off on my purchase of a new driver until this has been completed. My last driver is the Cobra ZL first edition NOT the encore. I love that driver..So it will have to beat my ZL for me to switch. Please include the feel and sound ,weight / balance in your testing, this is something I take in consideration when deciding on a purchase..

Awesome! Love this segment each year!

I always take reviews with a grain of salt though because I’m a unique player. I have decent club head speed (105-110) and I’m a decent player (5 index) but something about my AoA doesn’t generate a ton of spin so what a lot of better players might find desirable (lower spinning equipment) really hurts me.

It would be interesting to know more about the testing group to find a player that more aligns with my game so I don’t end up trying the equipment that works for most but will never work for me.

Let’s hope ALL invites are accepted this year. Sucks when certain companies decide against it.
