Is This the Callaway X-22 for 2009?

I had been hearing some rumblings lately about The New Callaway X-22 iron that will be probably be released in 2009. So…I put the word out to my guys a few weeks ago to keep an eye out for any drawings or molds laying around. And today I came to work and opened my email to the subject “You might think this is interesting”. He also said, “Please dont release my name or info…but I know you won’t.” He was right, I found it very interesting and he also knows I would never give up my contacts.

We Will Have To Wait And See

My source said this IS going to be the next Callaway iron that is released in 2009 and will be named the Callaway X-22. Probably a little soon to tell, so if I hear anything new I will update the post. Check’em out!

Another reference to the X-22 is found on, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAeKpPnWVy4&feature=user (Fairway Steve episode) with a callaway club maker saying that the X-22 is made in a different way to the x-20 (non-bore i think):

Thanks for the tip! However I was not able to find where he made that reference. If you can point out where it was I will make sure to include that in the article.

And if you would like to contribute on a regular basis let us know we would be happy to compensate you for material we use on the site. Keep up the good work!

The X-22 looks very much like the design of a jap iron, the Epon 701’s.

I have a set of x-22s. Got them at a charity golf event. Came home, googled them, and found all these websites that say they’re not available. So how did this end up at the charity tournament? Also, via the web, saw that lots of sets of x22’s seem to be available from abroad and for a lot less than what I paid for them at the silent auction.

Well if they say X-22 on them then you got a fake. They have not been released yet. Do you have a picture and I can see what they are and where they came from.

I came across X22 myself, came back home and googled for it and that’s how I came into this website. X22 is very much the same as X20. I did realize the difference until I was told of them. Take away the 20, put in 22, and that’s how you get X22! Same color and design. I have not played X22, so I can’t comment on it.

I think it looks strange, but I always think that about new clubs. From the newer released clubs– Titleist AP, Mizuno 53, Pings, and the X22– manufacturers are putting more weighting on the bottoms. More help for us so its great. The X22 looks like a mixture of the X18 and X20. I a photo of the X22 to your email.

It still amazes me how little they change this club from year to year and still stay current looking. Very similar to a car manufacturer for example BMW…changes minor things but keeps selling new cars.

Does anyone know if they will make a x-22 tour model and if so, any pictures or comparison to the x-20 tours? Thx.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the above photo is of the next generation Callaway iron, the X-22. In addition to the X-22, Callaway is launching the FTiQ driver, FT-9 driver, Big Bertha Diablo driver and fairway woods, X-22 Tour, and X-Tour irons. I saw all of these clubs today when the local Callaway rep stopped the the pro shop. The X-22 Tour irons are quite different in appearence from the above X-22, which strays from the past designs. All of these clubs look to be great and available early next year. In addition to the clubs, there are going to be HX Hot+ and Warbird+ golf balls.

the x-22 irons will be released on October 15th (only 11 days from now). Check Callaway’s website, there is more information about them there. However, there is no news about the x-22 tour there. But i have seen some pictures of them, and they look sweet to me!

I recently bought a set of x20’s (3 MONTHS AGO) from one of the largest golfing retailers in Australia. Wasn’t i pissed off when they sent me an email as a vip customer informing me that the next generation x22’s are available to buy in limited stock, especially when i asked when they would be out but was told they would be a long time coming. I CAN CONFIRM THAT THE ABOVE PICTURE IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE. I tried to upload the picture i was sent as it was much clearer then the above but it didn’t work. SORRY. I’ll be in at the store tomorrow and I won’t be happy.

There is a guy that is selling the new X-22’s on E-bay for $549. How do I know if they are authentic and that I’m not getting ripped off. I love the X-20’s and I really want these 22’s. Please help.

Gut feeling is that it is a fake. There ARE a couple shops that are selling them now but the price is much higher and there are tons of fakes out there of this particular model…so be weary. If there are selling for below minimum MAP pricing ight now 9 times out of 10 ther are a fake.

Below I have included a couple articles from Callaway in regards to counterfiets.

Half the X-22 sets on E-Bay are fakes. Oddly enough, the photos that started this thread are of a fake. Most of the fakes on E-Bay are in sets 3-PW/SW, not a “standard” Callaway set. If you look very closely at the photos above, the end of the large chrome “X” stands slightly proud of the top of the iron, on a real one it’s below the outer rim. There are a series of “X”es in the background. On the real clubs they are parallel to the bottom of the head, on the fakes they are parallel to the topline. The graphite shafted fakes have a 55 flex, while the real ones are 75. The fakes have nice fake holograms on the shafts. Oddly enough, the real ones don’t. One of my local dealers who imports Asian market Callaways for customers of Asian ethnic background thinks the counterfeiters copied Asian clubs, which have the lighter flex and do have holograms. In addition, the fakes have grips that have a very strong rubber smell and last, but not least, their fake serial numbers are one digit too long.

If you put a real one next to a fake, the many differences are obvious. The fakes are very crude in many ways.

Used the x22 s in the golf shop this morning, tried various clubs, hit for about an hour setting up the machine, fantastic feel, and consistantly hit further with them, hit the x22 7 iron the same distance and further than the taylor made burners 6 iron. Great clubs for less than
