Club Testers Wanted

The team at Cobra Golf has asked us to round up 6 MyGolfSpy Forum Members to test their latest game-improvement iron, the AMP Cell.

The 6 readers chosen by the MyGolfSpy Staff  will receive their very own set of Cobra AMP Cell irons. Those same 6 readers will be asked to provide other MyGolfSpy readers with a comprehensive review of Cobra’s latest game-improvement iron.  Thorough is what we do, and we ask the same of our readers. Please don’t apply if you’re not willing to do the work.

Cobra has made some pretty bold claims about the AMP Cell. They’re promising “explosive distance and pinpoint accuracy“.

Does the AMP Cell iron deliver?

I don’t know. It’s your job (at least it could be) to find out.

Requirements

:: Must be a resident of planet earth (women must be right-handed)
:: Must be a MyGolfSpy Forum Member in good standing
:: Must be able to string sentences together in a coherent fashion (wit and humor are a bonus)
:: Must be capable of producing quality photos of golf equipment
:: Must have willingness, time, and ability to thoroughly test a set of Cobra AMP Cell Irons
:: Must embody the spirit of Cobra-PUMA Golf

How To Enter

Check out the AMP Cell Irons on Cobra’s Website. If you think the AMP Cell Irons could help your game, visit the Official Cobra AMP Cell Iron Testing Thread in the MyGolfSpy Forum and enter to become a MyGolfSpy Club Tester.

To enter, leave a comment that contains the following:

  • Your current handicap (or your average 18 hole score)
  • An original photo of something (anything) golf-related
  • In no more than 2 paragraphs, tell us how you meet the last requirement (how do you embody the spirit of Cobra-PUMA Golf?).

I feel I embody the true spirit of Cobra-Puma Golf as they have intended. I love the game of golf and even though I am not a low handicap player (typically I shoot 85 on average). I am a tremendous cheerleader for the game having convinced many people to take the game up and discover the true enjoyment of the game. Cobra is dedicated to researching and creating the perfect clubs for any level player. I am dedicated to helping the new golfer through the initial problems of getting started and when with better players, provide positive re-enforcement for helping them get better. I specialize in confidence boosting.
I currently play Cobra SS Forged Blades and have thoroughly enjoyed them and even though they are intended for the better player, I have found my game has improved with both distance and straighter shots. I have been chomping at the bit to try the Cobra Amp Cell Irons in a real live golf course environment. Since I live in Myrtle Beach Couth Carolina, I have approximately 100+ courses at my disposal. If I am selected to test the Cobra Amp Cell Irons, I will provide extremely detailed reports of my findings, both on the range and on course.

Hi there….as a competive golfer at clublevel with hcp 8 I’ve fitted my previous golfsets.
“So I’m used to talk and rate specs, playability, shot shaping etc.”
I’m expirienced in using the golf sense and a swingspeed device.
(At our clubrange we can hire the track man device.)

      The AMP’s are “more game improvement ones” but I could compare these with my own;
      – Snake Eyes 600CB (halve cavity back) true temper S400
      – Taylor Made (forged blades) true temper S400 or
      – Miura (forged blades) KBS tour Stiff (are prof. fitted and play these for the last year)

In my profession I’m used to make macro pictures (Nikon D90 with macro) and product photography for own small busines or Facebook site.
      I’m living in the Netherlands.
My English in writing could use some help ? :-)

Hi I am playing of a 8 handicap age 44 Years

I am in the process of looking at new clubs Playing currently with a set of Adams Speed-line clubs for 2 Years. I am a very keen golfer with a interest in the technical part of the swing. Currently reading Power golf from Ben Hogan. This is the second book of Hogan I am going through and wat an insight. The may not have had all the technology we have today and all the nice words we now have given to certain stages of the swing but accurate.

The most interesting part is the distances of then compared to now and the huge leap we have made in the technology. I play golf for relaxation and to get rid of all the work stress. I find it calming not like most people. I was down to 4 but after my neck op last year I am still on the comeback trail My all-time favorite cub was a Cobra 7 wood that eventually got stolen on course and found it out at the next game when I pulled it out to hit a tuffy out of the rough and to my amazement the club changed loft, name and the result was a failed attempt. It is a pity that I can not upload the Photo of My challenge of playing on sand Greens

My handicap is 16 and I embody the spirit of Cobra-Puma golf in that I am not the most well known golfer in my world, yet I am constantly pushing the envelope in becoming better in every area of my reality.

I love the Spiderman look on the back of the irons. Flash without going all Liberace on it. It shows the commitment to style and staying young without being obnoxiously gaudy. They are definitely looking like space shuttle repair pieces with which you can also play golf.

I would love to retire my Mizuno’s and swing these red hot irons in front of my friends to cleave their psyches asunder with my powerful yet surgical strokes.

      Thank you for your consideration.

This email is to enter the Cobra AMP Testors Wanted. I’m 66 and played my first 18 holes 5 years ago. I would think that to embody the Cobra spirit one would have to be a real golf fanatic. That would be me. My wife wonders how a grown man can be so smitten with new golf clubs. Well these Cobra AMP’s are gorgeous! Oh, and I am smitten with golf. In the five years I’ve been playing my handicap has gone to a low of 7.3 (GHIN), and is currently 7.9 – rats!

After 22 months I got my first hole in one. Last year my best friend and I won The Rainbow Classic Golf Classic; a fund raiser for disadvantaged kids. The draw was small, but we were elated to win. This year I won our club championship at Kapalua. Again, the draw was really small, but what a thrill for an old fart! Although I try hard, I’m always joking, and laughing – even at bad shots. This game is much to difficult to be mad. Besides, what beautiful playing fields! This is my favorite course – The Challenge at Manele Bay on Lanai. This is where I made my one and only hole-in-one. Should I be selected I will give Cobra a thorough, and honest test. Mahalo, R.L.
P.S. Now if someone can just tell me how to add the photo!

I am a 5 handicap and would love the chance to try these new cobra irons. I would definitely hit the range first with them and put them up against my ap1’s for starters and compare ball flight and distance. I think it would be both interesting and challenging, and I would love to report on just how easy it is for the average golfer to get used to swinging these, and looking down at them at address. Count me in mgs and thanks for the opportunity.

I am currently using the Cobra amp cell irons and love them. When you think you have the best iron Cobra does it again and introduces a even better iron. I am one of the biggest Cobra fan you will find. They have demonstrated that their design team is the best.

I have been a ball tester before and understand the need for testing by the general market. I practice three times week and play every weekend. I live in West Palm Beach where the weather is great for golf. Keep up the new design and I love your ads.

6.8 handicap 36 yrs old who loves playing with new and different equipment. I live in an area of the PNW where the best golf courses in the state are in all directions around me and usually an hour or less away. A buddy, my brother and I travel and play 2-3 different courses every week and have a little skins game at our local home course every sunday. I believe i would be a perfect fit for testing clubs due to playing often and playing a wide variety of different courses requiring many different shots. Again, love trying new clubs, balls, shafts, ect. And have the ability to give you and the readers a great review of anything tested. Thanks for your consideration.

As a 72 year old golfer with a handicap of 10, I believe I can be of great assistance in your
marketing of these new irons. I play at Shalimar C.C. in Tempe,AZ. where I am also a volunteer
Ambassador (Ranger). I come in contact with hundreds of golfers every week. I would be proud to demonstrate your new iron to all. I presently play Ping G15 irons and metal woods but I am always eager to try and improve.I am also called the Henny Youngman of our golf course. He may be a bit before your time, not my fault, some parents took too long in deciding to have kids.

      Hi MGS,
I would absolutely love to participate in your Cobra Amp Cell Iron test! I am not sure of my current handicap, but a normal round for me is in the high 70s to the low/mid 80s. I play no less than once per week and can play much more than that if needed.
I believe that much like Cobra/ Puma, I enjoy going for it and being a little flashy. Just like some of the their popular touring pro’s, I don’t mind being a little loud like Fowler or outspoken and fiery like Poulter (just wish my game could back it up LOL). With all that being said, the most important thing to me is performance and that is what Cobra/ Puma exemplifies. They have been one of the most influential companies in golf and are always willing to push the envelope. As for my picture I thought I would push the envelope as well and post a pic of one of my friends who’s tee shot didn’t quite make the women’s tee box one day (don’t worry, there was nobody else on the course to be offended LOL). I did not know how to post it on the so I uploaded it.
P.S. I have a better camera than the one I used there

I think i am the person cobra/puma need because with their clubs i will be able to strike at my opponents when they are in range like a cobra amd speed up the leaderboard like a puma!!
I currently play off 11 but know i can get into single digits with that step up these clubs will give me….

I live in Belgium and i am a huge fan of cobra! I have been “trying to” playing with cobra for a half year now. I gained about 20 metres with the amp. I am thinking about buying the new cobra amp cell hybrids. This is a golden opportunity to test the new cobra clubs
