STOP Advertising For Golf Companies….Start Advertising YOUR Own Game

You’re a MyGolfSpy.com reader: you play the best, custom-fit equipment for YOUR game, you wear clothes that fit YOUR style…so why would you litter your bag with the same headcovers that everyone else has?  Hard as they may try, OEM headcovers are weak sauce.  Even the best ones look dated by the time the next model comes out, and, ultimately, they’re just free advertising for the OEM.  Wait, it’s not free at all, you actually pay for the privilege!

Enter CRU Golf.  Founded by Adam Blake, this company makes one thing: classic leather headcovers.  Adam told me that he’s always been a fan of this style of headcover and saw the opportunity to create something of the highest quality that a father could give to his son or that a grandson could give to his grandfather.

Hand Sewn & Made In the U.S.A

The name CRU was borrowed from a wine industry term that refers to vineyards of recognized superior quality, and the headcovers that CRU makes definitely live up to the name.  After the leather panels are machine cut to ensure precise dimensions, the headcovers are then hand sewn by skilled leatherworkers.  The covers are 100% leather with wool blend interiors to protect your precious sticks.  It’s also nice to know that the covers are completely made in the USA, from supply all the way to completion.

Now, of course, all that is great, but it’s meaningless if they don’t perform well.  Rest assured, the covers do exactly what they’re supposed to do: slide on easily, stay in place, and protect your clubs.  Neither Dave nor I experienced any problems with the covers whether riding or walking.

Two Lines Of Covers Available: Reserve & Classic

CRU offers two lines of headcovers: the Reserve and the Classic.  Both lines feature the same high quality leather and a moisture wicking interior liner.  Despite being constructed slightly differently, the Reserve features a 3-piece design where the Classic has 2-piece design, both fit my clubs equally well.

The Classic line is CRU’s “stock” offering.  They offer (8) different color combinations, from black and white to hot pink, in driver, fairway, and hybrid sizes.  The Classic features an argyle stripe that gives it a decidedly retro flair.  You can add Classic CRU headcovers to your bag for $45 (driver) to $38 (hybrid) or get a (Set of 3 covers for just $99.)

Reserve Line = Limitless Options

While the Classic line is great, the Reserve covers, with all the custom options, are truly out of this world.  All you have to do is check out the custom order form to see what I mean.  The number of different combinations is almost countless when you consider that you can customize the color of the body, the side panels, the piping, and the number, in addition to choosing the design on the neck AND adding custom embroidery or laser engraving.  What’s even better is that the custom order page is easy to understand and navigate…well…it’s “better” until you spend three hours trying to decide on the best possible combination.  Prices on the Reserve line range from $69 (driver) to $63 (hybrid), so the only hard part is finalizing your choices.  Well, that, and waiting for 3-4 weeks for the covers to arrive.

Lots Of Custom Cover Choices…But CRU is Second To None!

At the PGA Merchandise Show, I saw tons of companies trying to get into the market for vintage leather headcover market.  I handled and inspected covers from every one of these companies and I can tell you that the headcovers that CRU Golf makes are second to none. The quality is readily apparent from the moment you pick them up.  When you consider all of the custom options, and the fact that CRU Golf prices their covers at or below (in some cases, far below) these other companies, it makes me wonder why anyone would buy leather headcovers anywhere else.

These headcovers look super nice. But I saw the prices. If MGS sent me one for free I would definitely use it.

I’d love to Bag that Orange and white with the MGS Logo. That would look sweet, but then I’d need that MGS Bag so all would color coordinated! lol

Love everything about them- except the price. 50-70 bucks for headcover is just not going to fly with my wife.

The orange and white one fit great on my RAZR Fit. No slippage or excessive tugging to get it on.

Excellent review..Yep, the CRU headcovers are the real deal & I have iliac covers & since I got my first CRU cover(Thank You MGS), I won’t be buying anything else, including iliac..Since my first cover, I have added 3 more driver covers & 1 FM and 1 hybrid(No, I’m not a ho, I prefer to think that I like variety)….

They are soft, pliable and what I really like is as they age, much like a fine pair of shoes, the leather gets softer & very pliable…Obviously, I rotate my covers, though I wipe them down once a month with leather conditioner, though you probably don’t have to do this and they’d be just fine…

And as MGS said, these are much better quality than the covers that cost much more, thicker leather & thicker plush lining…A lot of nice color choices, though most of my covers are pink or accented in pink for the breast cancer theme..

I’ve never, ever kept an OEM cover on my clubs, because #1, they’re not payin me to advertise for ’em & #2, and probably the main reason is I don’t wanna look across the course or down the practice line and see 6, 8 or 10 other covers just like mine…I can’t remember the last time that I saw one of MY covers on someone else’s club…lol…Especially a guy’s clubs…

If you want to put a great lookin cover, durable & unique cover on your clubs, you will not find better than CRU!…

      Fairways & Greens 4ever

      Again, great review!….

      Fairways & Greens 4ever…..
