“Definitive Father’s Day List of the Coolest Click-To-Buy Golf Gadgets”

(Written By: GolfSpy X)

From the sensational to the sensible, MyGolfSpy has created the “Definitive Father’s Day List of the Coolest Click-To-Buy Golf Gadgets” for any golfer on the planet Earth (yes, that includes you Canada).  Or for you dad’s wanting a gift, just refer to this as your little cheat sheet to send to the fam (just print out or email this handy cheat sheet guide and slide it in your wife’s purse.

Why is this the “Definitive Father’s Day List of the Coolest Click-To-Buy Golf Gadgets” for 2013?  Well, for starters I ‘m qualified to speak for dad’s, I am a dad, my dad was a dad, and his dad…yeah a father as well.  And oh yeah, we might just be the most experienced golf gadget gear-head site on the net (is net even a word anymore).  So that qualifies me to speak for all dad’s about what they want need.

Now I know when asked, your dad always says “I don’t want anything” or “save your money kid”.  He’s lying.  He wants peace and quiet and a nap (and maybe a sandwich).  And I can guarantee you one thing…he would love something off this list too.  Gonna go out on a limb here and say that if he does get something off this list it might just be his best fathers day ever.

MGS POLL (FACT): 65% of Dad’s would rather get kicked in the groin than receive another tie for Father’s Day in 2013.

The List of Golf Gear Your Dad Won’t Hate

1. SkyPro

Listen, swing trainers might just be the hottest trend in golf.  We put them all to the test for you back in 2012, almost before they had even really hit the scene.  They were cool back then, but they’re getting way cooler now.  Mark my words: These little things are going to revolutionize the way consumers buy golf equipment.  And oh yeah, those things called Trackman’s and the like are going to be a thing off the past in the very near future.  No more having to drive to a golf shop in Timbuktu just get fit on a launch monitor by someone that doesn’t even know what the numbers mean.  Now, EVERYONE will have that kind of access and all for under $200! These things aren’t just cool, they’re as bad-ass as bad-ass can get when your talking golf gadgets.  Dad gets ones of these and its move over Aqua Velva, hello SkyPro.

2. James Patrick Custom Wedge(s)

You want to get something for Dad that he will always remember as the best damn father’s day gift ever?  Your look is over.  Yeah, Bobby’s dad down the street has some ok lookin’ Cleveland’s and the pro at your local course has some custom Vokey’s.  But, your dad shows up with these and I guarantee both of them start putting those wacky iron headcovers on their wedges the next time your pop’s tees it up with their group.  These things are super exclusive, he literally makes them all one at a time.  Hell, nobody at MyGolfSpy even has any of these yet (except Spy Zinger) but I just got mine on order (take that Zinger).  It doesn’t get any sicker than a JP wedge in the bag…well ok…maybe two of them.

3. 3Bays – Putting Analyzer

Ok, when the iPing Putter App came out it changed the way the everyday golfer could see their putting stroke.  But as most pioneers will tell you, they too often get shot with arrows in the back from the new comers to the market.  Learning accrues, market gets better defined and each subsequent product release has less mistakes.  Basically what I am trying to say is this tiny device (1/3 of an ounce) is the iPing Putter App on steroids.  It’s basically your own personal putting coach thats with you anytime, anywhere.  In a nutshell, if your dad is one of those that practices his putting in his office or even in line for some yogurt at your local dairy trough dispenser this is something he will want…guaranteed.

4. The Can’t Miss

Your dad a golfer + gadget guy + steampunk lover? Then “The Cant Miss” is not only up his alley, it is his alley.  Yeah, we know, the thing just looks cool, but you’re probably also saying, “what the hell is it?”  Well, when we first reviewed it, GolfSpy Matt said, “this is the best putting trainer that I’ve ever used.”  Some time has passed since the original review, but the coolness factor hasn’t worn off.  You want to get him something original, unique and effective…then here ya go.  You can thank me later.

5. Putter Lounge

How many putters have you owned since you started playing golf?  Five, ten, maybe a hundred?  If you’re anything like me you have probably lost count by now.  But how many of those putters were customized exactly the way you wanted them to look?  I would guess the majority of you would answer ZERO.  Well now you can. When it comes to customizing your putter…PutterLounge.com is on a short list of being the best in the business.

6. CamCaddy Pro

Finally!  No more swing excuses…ok thats going way too far.  But, at least no more having to ask your buddy to hold the camera/phone and video your swing.  Golfers are a lot like body builders (not their biceps *cough* Bubba Watson) they love to look at themselves.  Almost all golfers complain about not being able to see their swing. But, did you know that 74% of golfers go their entire lives without actually ever seeing it on film (another made up stat).  No…but seriously just about every golfer should have one of these in the bag.  You can use it on the range, on the course, hell you could use it for just about anything (yeah their are other things than golf).

7. Game Golf

Ok…when I first saw this thing my jaw dropped.  I immediately called the company and started drilling them with questions.  And they weren’t softballs I was throwing at them either.  They not only answered them all, what they said intrigued me even more.  Yeah I know, these things can only be Pre-Ordered right now, they are still making them.  But if you want to get in early on one of the coolest pieces of technology I have seen since starting MyGolfSpy…than this is it.  The saying “MUST SEE!” is over rated, however in this case it’s not.  MUST SEE! – GAME GOLF

8. 59 Belts

Buckles have become to golf what purses and shoes are to women.  And the reason that trend happened?  59Belts.  A few came before him, quite a few after him, but when it comes to golf buckles 59Belts stands at the top of the mountain all by himself as the “King of Golf Buckles”.

9. Vessel Bags

One thing is for sure, every golfer owns a golf bag.  But almost all of those golfers are advertising for someone else when they take their bag to the course.  Why not have your own bag, your own style, your own design?  Now you might be thinking well the picture below only has staff bags and I like to walk, well your in luck Vessel makes stand bags as well.  Want a sneak-peek of what my bag is going to look like (click here).  Don’t like my bag design?  No problemo, you can design your own.

10. Tour Links Putting Greens

You might have heard the Tour Links name before, hell it seems like they’ve been around forever.  But in my opinion they still make the most functional, easy to set-up (literally like 15 minutes), and custom greens in the game.  Yeah they can get a little pricey but they make models at almost every price point.  From just over $150 – $Infinity.  But whatever you want they can make.  So, skip the Wal-Mart specials and get one that will last you a lifetime.  I bought mine almost 10 years ago and it still putts like the day I got it.

11. Tour Striker

I’ll be honest I don’t own a Tour Striker, matter of fact I’ve never even used one.  So, why did it make the list?  Well, my guys wouldn’t let me put together this list without including the Tour Striker training aid.  And not just because it is “The #1 Selling Training Aid in Golf”, but more importantly they use it and believe almost all golfers can benefit from owing one of their own.

12. Cool Clubs – Ultimate Fitting Center

This one might be a little tougher to come by for most of you (they aren’t on every street corner yet).  But, if you want to go on the ultimate golf trip, make sure you make it in a city that a Cool Clubs shop is located (it will be the highlight of the trip).  Most of the pros on tour don’t even get this dialed in with their equipment.  Coming up with a slogan like “The Ultimate Fitting Center” might have taken a few days.  But, coming up with their name was a no-brainer…Cool Clubs.

13. Bushnell Tour v3 – with Jolt Technology

Are you still one of those guys that doesn’t own a rangefinder? Or the one you own seems to be better for bird watching than it is for telling you how far you have left to the pin?  If so, then I want to introduce you to the Bushnell Tour V3 laser rangefinder. It is the unit to beat in 2013.  And no the “Jolt Technology” doesn’t shock you every time you so stupidly decide to pick the 3wd out of the bag when you’re 250 out in the woods between 47 trees and you still know think you can birdie.  It’s actually a pretty cool feature that lets you know when lock on to your target.  Not huge, but added to what is already a killer unit by Bushnell and it sits as our go-to rangefinder for dads.

14. Alial Fital

The next time your wife asks you to go shopping with her, let her know you’ll gladly go after she takes you shopping through Alial Fital’s online store.  Do yourself a favor, man up, don’t order those next four Starbucks drinks that you’re so addicted to and use that savings to pamper yourself and buy a shirt outside of your normal reach. You won’t be disappointed. When’s the last time your golf shirt came folded and packed in a box with tissue paper?

15. Bubba’s Hovercraft – Golf Cart

I told you this list would contain everything from the sensible to the sensational, this is where the sensational come in to play.  What started off as just a viral video concept by the team at Thinkmodo has now turned into something they say they were forced to produce because of demand.  Yeah, basically it went from a stunt to reality as soon as 60 million (yes, million) people saw it both online and on TV.  So why are millionaires from Russia calling to place orders for a golf cart that cost around $65,000?  Rhetorical question.  Ummm..obvi…because the thing goes over 50 mph and flies over water hazards that’s why.

16. The Golf Gift Card

Seriously?  You couldn’t find anything off this list?  Ok, if you’ve gotten this far without already buying dad something or telling the family what you want for dad’s day, then I will make it easy on you.  CreditDonkey already told me that 31.2% of you would just want a gift card, so I guess I will go ahead and give you a link to make that happen, but really, nothing off this list?

(Happy Father’s Day) – Aqua Velva & A Nap

If your dad is anything like mine, then you have no clue what to buy him for Father’s Day. The only Father’s Day tradition in my family is the annual conversation he and I have where I say, “Hey, Dad, what do you want for Father’s Day this year?” and he says, “Nothing.” Then I ask my mom what I should get him and she says, “He likes sandalwood soap, dangly jewelry and Chanel No 5 perfume.” Michael Showalter

I plan to slather on some Aqua Velva, in honor of my father.

And then take a nap.

Happy Father’s Day!

Great ideas, anyone know where I can find those plastic adjustable tees, they kind of look like screws and have a plate that let you adjust the height. Anyway, bought them at golf-town a while back but can’t find them anymore and they were great, one less thing for me to think about can only help my game. I would also like my wife to buy them for me :)

There’s a big box golf store in middle earth. Hobbits’ are actually really good ball-strikers – wide feet = a good, stable swinging platform… Groundsmen hate them though, as they remove the sand from the greenside-bunkers and build houses all over the place…

I was just thinking as well, the bestgrips custom grips and puttershoes (www.bestgrips.com) would’ve been a great addition to this list.
