First Look – Nike Vapor Fly Driver

We showed you the USGA pics, now Nike has released a singular pic of what ever indication suggests will be called the Vapor Fly driver. Paul Casey has it in his bag for the Tour Championship (where he shot five under in the first round).

No tech details been announced as of yet, so what you see is what you get.

Last season’s charcoal paint has been replaced with blue (or whatever clever name Nike calls this particular hue), while Volt remains the accent color.

It’s a bold look.

As soon as I saw it I knew they wouldn’t sell very many in the state of Ohio or any other Big Ten State.

Looks like they may be going carbon-fiber crown as well (or portion thereof), or it’s a weird texture in the paint. While i like the minimalist crown markings, i still don’t dig the giant swoosh placement. Never been a fan of any graphics on the crown myself – another reason i never did the R1 and the like.

I must be missing something as I have yet to see a pic of the crown on this new driver. As far as the swoosh on the sole, I could careless what they put on the sole. In any event, if I have missed a pic please show me the light.

I couldn’t help myself and did a quick google search. A few other outlets have one as well and Paul Casey has it in play now. The more i look at it, the more it looks just like a paint job and less like carbon fiber. The swoosh is that weird greeny/yellow color. Basically same as the last couple of Vapors, just new color scheme.

Show me the crown, then I will vote. I could careless about how shiny the chrome is on the sole. However, my wife might like it so she can use it to touch up her lipstick without having to dig the compact out of her purse.

The original color scheme of the black, grey and white looked much better, I like the neon accent, but the brilliant blue should stay on their shirts. Seems like they’re trying to one up Cobra for colors. Vibrant colors are Cobra’s signature (along with badass drivers).
