“Insider Secrets That Could Save You Thousands of Dollars!”
Posted March 11, 2009 by GolfSpy X![]()
The MyGolfSpy of Golf Travel!
Today’s post isn’t about gear, but as a golfer who clearly values insider info and unbiased reviews, we thought you’d want to know about it anyway.
Turns out there is a website devoted entirely to reviewing golf courses, resorts, and golf vacation packages very much like we approach golf equipment. By that we mean it’s hard-core independent and devoted to “telling it like it is.”
Golf Odyssey: The Insider’s Guide to Golf Travel
It’s called Golf Odyssey: The Insider’s Guide to Golf Travel, and it has been publishing monthly intelligence reports for the past 17 years. And their 17 years of experience showed.
To say it’s objective is an understatement. All of their reviews are based on “secret shopper” inspections by a small, expert staff. They don’t accept advertising from the properties they review. And — get this — they even turn down the all-expense-paid “fam” trips that courses and resorts regularly hand out to members of the media. We told you they were hard core.
Besides providing unbiased recommendations of the best places to play, stay, and dine, and being brutallyhonest (like us at MyGolfSpy) about the overpriced and over-hyped places to avoid, much of what these guys publish is stuff courses and resorts don’t want you to know, such as money-saving promotion codes, unadvertised offers usually reserved for “special customers,” even how to get on private courses without knowing any members…Augusta here we come!
MyGolfSpy Readers Get FREE Trial
We took them up on their current offer for a free preview, which includes the most recent issue of Golf Odyssey, (3) golf vacation guides, and instant access to its password-protected archive, a great tool for getting the inside scoop on virtually any destination you’re interested in going to with your friends or your family.
True to their claims on the free trial sign up page, we found out, among other things:
• How to play a $200 golf course in Pebble Beach, California for $55
• How to play two of Florida’s best private golf courses, just by staying in the right hotel
• How to get 50% off room rates at one of Scottsdale’s top-ranked hotels
Even If You Only Take 1 Golf Vacation…
So…if you take even one golf vacation with your pals per year, we would definately recommend signing up for this free trial. Trust us…there is no obligation to subscribe (nor do they badger you with emails about it…which is unusual nowadays) and the insider secrets and advice in here could save you hundreds of bucks on your next trip. It’s FREE and it can save you some money on golf…so check it out.
You can get more information on the free trial program directly from Golf Odyssey.

Great piece right here. I have signed up for the free trial. I think this site looks very interesting. I am always trying to find out about resorts and other courses before I go and I love the fact that they are completely honest. All the golf magazine’s out there give biased opinions on courses or resorts due to advertising. This is one of the better sites I have heard of in a while.

I agree with you CJ…it is tough to read between the BS of most golf magazines. Especially when they are all in the pockets of the advertisers. This company seems to really do it right!

Wish I would have subscribed to Golf Odyssey instead of Travel & Leisure Golf, which just shut down. I heard they’re going to finish out our subscriptions with their general travel pub, Travel & Leisure. Not cool.

Hey Sean – We have heard that from a few people actually and that is one of the reasons we really thought this would be a great value for you guys.

Actually had Golf Odyessey sent to me for free all of 2008. It’s a good pub. For people who travel, its 10X better than T&L Golf for the fact alone that there just are really no ads. Good content and easy to read.

I just don’t feel good giving anyone my credit card number. It sounds interesting and I like the concept, but I can’t trust too many sites with this kind of information anymore.

Hey Andy – I totally understand where you are coming from. Credit cards should really come with that credit card and identity theft protecton out of the box…we should not have to pay for that.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. Do they offer anything for any other country or is it just contained to the USA at the moment. Anything to save cash at the moment is a good thing.

I thought they actually did Kiwi. They were great guys as well…a lot like us at MyGolfSpy with non-biased scoop.

I hope this is better than Travel and Leisure Golf, I don’t care for T&L Golf.
