INSIDE LOOK! – NIKE’S “THE OVEN” TESTING LABS

Posted May 30, 2010 by mygolfspy

The photos in today’s post are brought to you by the NOTCOT.com…a great site we go to…typically not for golf info but for all kinds of other design inspiration. NOTCOT is a visual filtration of ideas + aesthetics + amusements. NOTCOT’s two sites have become the daily sources of inspiration for creatives everywhere, fighting the good fight against “creative block” since 2005 with visually stunning imagery, the latest in international trends, and a passion for all things well designed.

Nike’s – Gizmos & Gadgets Deptartment

A few weeks ago we got an invite from Nike Golf…they were looking for bloggers and some of the media to come down and take a tour of their R&D facility better known as “The Oven”.  Unfortunately we were not able to make it this time, although our friends over at NOTCOT.com were…and they took some great pics for all you guys to sneak-a-peek at.

If you are not familiar with the somewhat top-secret labs over at Nike called “The Oven”, this facility is admittedly pretty kick-ass.  For a somewhat new comer to the golf equipment industry Nike was smart to grab up the 5 man team over at Impact Golf Technologies which included the now well known designer at Nike, Tom Stites.  Impact Golf Technologies was a small shop in Fort Worth, Texas run by Stites…they might have been a small operation but they put out some big time clubs for other companies in the industry and the guys on tour as well.  So this was an important pick up for the Nike Golf team.  And oh yeah…getting that guy name Tiger on staff wasn’t too shabby of a move either.

So not only did they set themselves up with the right staff behind the scenes and on the scene…but they made sure their guys had all the right gizmos and gadgets it takes to be able to turn out whatever they want whenever they want as well…and all right inside the place they call “The Oven”.

So have a look at the pics and enjoy!

Dang I wish I could go to “The Oven” and play around in there a while. I’d even be happy if I didn’t get any “free” stuff. LOL!

Put a feeler out to a group of readers and they loved the idea. So we will run it by Nike to see what we can do. No guarantees but we will see what we can do ;)
