Yesterday afternoon we gave golfers that follow us on Twitter and Facebook the chance to ask John Daly 1 question they would love to know the answer to about him and his life. We got a good response with some great questions for Big John.
If you haven’t heard…Daly’s PGA Tour suspension is up and he will soon be back playing in the US. He is scheduled to play in the St. Jude Classic in Memphis starting June 8th.
If you want to see more insider’s scoop…like this chance to ask John Daly any question you could dream of…make sure to follow MyGolfSpy and Daly on (Twitter & Facebook).

Quick Twitter Q & A With John Daly
1. (MyGolfSpy) – What keeps you coming back John? Many readers will not agree but we think that you get treated unfairly…you would be considered a role model if you were in the NFL…lol. So what is it about this game that keeps you wanting to play competitive golf on the PGA Tour?
(John Daly) – Because I feel I can still win and I want to compete.
2. (MyGolfSpy) - What position in football did you play in high school?
(John Daly) - Field Goal Kicker at Helias High Crusaders
3. (MyGolfSpy) - Do you have a new nickname for when you come back…since we won’t be able to call you Big John anymore…you have lost so much weight you might have to give that old nickname up.
(John Daly) – The “Mild Thing!” LOL
4. (MyGolfSpy) - What is your favorite driver you ever hit?
(John Daly) - I don’t have a favorite driver of all-time but I’m hitting the Adams Speedline right now and I love it!
5. (MyGolfSpy) - If you played an entire season on the PGA Tour and could remain healthy and focused…give us an idea of where you think you would finish for the season on the PGA rankings.
(John Daly) – I’m not sure…sometimes I play great and don’t score well and sometimes I play bad and score great. You can’t predict anything in this game.
6. (MyGolfSpy) - Are you going to be bringing the LoudMouth pants you have been wearing recently with you back to the US?
(John Daly) – Of Course!! (LoudMouthGolf.com)
7. (MyGolfSpy) - Guinness or JD & Diet Coke?
No response from Big John on this one
8. (MyGolfSpy) – Who taught you the range drill of hitting numerous wedge shots with one hand?
(John Daly) – I actually did myself with the left hand a long time ago and Coach Rick Smith has me doing it with my right hand now.
9. (MyGolfSpy) – The game of golf and the PGA sponsorships are struggling…do you think they should start doing some more entertaining things to bring more golfers in….like a long drive competition amongst the PGA guys or even the PGA vs. REMAX guys?
(John Daly) – I don’t think anything they do with the economy where it’s at right now will help with any tournaments.
10. (MyGolfSpy) – If they (PGA) continues to struggle to bring more golfers to the tube and to the game…do you ever see the day that there is another tour that challenges the PGA Tour similar to the ABA in basketball. A tour that will allow more free spirits and individualism?
(John Daly) – No, I don’t think so.
Thanks GolfSpy!!

JD is always honest and candid. Probably the reason he’s such a fan favorite. Nice interview GolfSpy
May 28th, 2009 at 9:59 am
Thanks!

I don’t Twitter (don’t know what it is honestly) and I choose not to be on facebook for various reasons…so hopefully this question will get to JD – Are you still doing your Charity Tournament at your home course in AR? If so, how can someone from South Carolina travel in and get involved in playing?
I would love to just sit and have a few brews with JD and Hootie, then go play nine holes.
May 28th, 2009 at 11:55 am
Hey Bogey we will see if we can get an answer for you on that today.
May 28th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Here was Johns answer:
yes, we just had it in April and raised record monies for the Boys & Girls Club was excited especially in these times!!
May 29th, 2009 at 4:10 am
Thank you MGS and John. Let me know how I can get involved next year. I saw a documentary about it a year or so ago and it looks like a good time. Maybe MGS should be a sponsor (wink)? I’ll rock the MGS Polo too.

That’s so awesome John was down for an MGS interview! I hope JD stays healthy and gets his act together. He can’t be drinking 15-20 Diet Cokes or Coors Lights a day and expect to keep his weight off. If he stays healthy and keeps his personal life under control, he’s one of the most talented golfers over 40.
May 28th, 2009 at 11:51 am
Yeah it was really cool for him to take the time out of his day to give our readers a little insight into his world. Everyone I know who knows him has nothing but great things to say about him…too bad they are so used to bores like DL III on tour.
May 28th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
I always enjoyed watching JD play golf, but PGA tour players need to be an example and it was very surprising when John was found passed out in a hooters about 20 miles from my house. Im just happy he’s finally getting his act together because hes a fan favorite on tour.

I’ve never understood why people put so much pressure on professional athletes to be perfect on or off the playing fields. I know that they are often role models for children (and adults) but I think we need to be more realistic. They are just people like us.
As parents, we need to teach our children to separate the good from the bad. We can admire John as he plays golf and makes it entertaining. We don’t admire the lifestyle he chose in the past. We can hope that he will choose a lifestyle that we can admire for the future.
John is one of my favourite players to watch on the tour and I love his honesty. I hope that he turns his life around, but even if he doesn’t he is an amazing golfer.

I think that with the suspension that JD got, it has toned him down alot with his actions. And now we are seeing a side of him that he may not even realized existed. I look forward to seeing him back here in the U.S. He is a fantastic player.
May 29th, 2009 at 7:01 am
I disagree…he has always been a low key guy that liked to have a few beers…no different then many of us. The man doesn’t party every night. You have to remember he plays on the PGA Tour…they love to drink but if it is Budweiser they have a problem with it
May 28th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Nice pants…;)
May 29th, 2009 at 7:01 am
Burnz…you will be seeing a lot of those pants REAL SOON!
May 29th, 2009 at 5:52 am
Great interview! I would love to see some more of these.
May 29th, 2009 at 6:59 am
Thanks CJ. I think that would be a good idea as well.
May 29th, 2009 at 7:04 am
I’ll be glad to see JD back. Most fans love a come back, an underdog and a return from the darkside. Best of Luck JD.
May 29th, 2009 at 8:05 am
MGS – don’t know how you do it, don’t want to know.
All I can say is keep it up.
This site continues to amaze me.
rob
PS – its actually refreshing to see a forum owner who has real PGA contacts rather than others who claim to.

Thanks Rob! I appreciate that your such a great fan of us as well. It means a lot to us.

First off, John has always been my favorite player. In the days of golf today, I don’t think there is anyone else there that the average, a couple times a month, golfer can relate to. I have always had “Medium John” in my dream foursomes, and always still want to play a round with my friends and him. I can say, I wouldn’t feel nervous playing with him, because he’s just like me, my friends, he’s one of the boys. John, keep the golf in focus, but don’t ever change who you are, that’s why we love you!

I’m just happy for JD! Thanks for the interview. Keep ‘em coming. Tim
May 29th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
ok, i agree that JD is a special golfer and every one should just lay off him
BUT , im in Australia and i have seen him play 3 times here , 1st time i saw him he threw his putter into the water ,then got on his plain about 2 hrs later and got out of the country, nowwe did fish the putter out of water and now its hanging above the 19th drinking hole
2nd time i saw him was on same course last year and again on the 18th he gave up, he could not be stuffed playing after he hit one in the drink,he again missed the cut
3rd time was in sydney last yeah where again he missed the cut and went off screaming at someone in the croud
Now i spent sum good money to watch him play, and i dont think he even bothers to think that ,if it was not for us in the adiance paying to watch him then he would not be there, how many bridges can you burn before we stop giving him a chance, in my opionion he burnt his last one
May 30th, 2009 at 10:51 am
That’s a shame Joshua. I don’t think anyone claims he’s perfect. He has lost his cool many many times. I think the John you saw was the one who was frustrated with his personal problems and the fact that they have taken away from his golf game. There is no excuse for acting the way he did, but golfer aren’t happy people when they play bad.
June 1st, 2009 at 6:26 am
Hey Parker, I think that your austalian and you just hate americans and you dont want to see them play good. Lay off john daly

That
November 12th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
I think it would’ve been interesting had JD elaborated a bit more on question #10. For example, “I would like to eventually see such-and-such changes made in the PGA … “
November 12th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Yeah Morris his answers were short and sweet.
