Question: What are you gonna do if you win this Grand Prize worth over $5,200? Hard to say right? I mean…we announced a HUGE contest…and told you who the sponsors are…but you don’t know what the prizes are even going to be yet. Well that is exactly what today is all about spies! You will definitely want to read today’s post from beginning to end, this way when I ask you again at the end of the article, “what are you gonna do if you win the Grand Prize?” you’ll be sure to have an answer for us.
3 Lucky Winners!
On Monday we made an announcement about the “Biggest Contest in the History of MyGolfSpy”. Judging by the response to the announcement, MyGolfSpy’s readers are really excited about this one, and quite frankly we think you should be.
Yesterday we announced our list of sponsors, and as you saw, we’ve brought together 10 incredible companies, including some of the biggest names in golf. Let’s be honest here…the names on that list absolutely kick-ass.
Tomorrow we will officially launch the contest – Today we are giving you a bit more info about the contest itself, and we’ll finally share with you the complete list of prizes 3 lucky winners are going to walk away with.
The “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff Contest”
Nearly every serious amateur and weekend hacker dreams of being on staff with one of the big golf companies. Who among us wouldn’t love to have a sponsor providing for all of our equipment needs? It sounds awesome doesn’t it? It is awesome…mostly. The downside of a staff deal is that while it will get you a full bag of gear, it’s probably going to limit you to one company’s equipment lineup.
The reality is that while just about every golf company does a good job with their entire lineup, when it comes to certain slots in the bag, some golf companies absolutely kill it. So why limit yourself? When you’re part of the MyGolfSpy Tour Staff, you’re not tied to equipment from a single golf company. As a member of the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff” you’ll get the very best gear to fill every spot in your bag, and you won’t be tied to a single sponsor.
Why We Chose Our Sponsors (Please Read)
1. TaylorMade – As you might be aware, when TaylorMade announced it’s 2012 lineup, GolfSpy T was quick to call shenanigans on what he believed was a gratuitous case of hype over substance. When TaylorMade offered to prove it, T flew out to Carlsbad to find out for himself if the RBZ Fairway could possibly live up to TMaG’s bold claim of 17 more yards. Yada, yada, yada…when T got back, not only did he have a ridiculous haircut, but he returned with the RocketBallz in his bag, and the belief that TaylorMade’s 2012 lineup might be the best that the company that promotes itself as “The #1 Driver in Golf” has ever produced. As a member of the MyGolfSpy Tour Staff, you’ll have TaylorMade woods in your bag.
2. Adams Golf – It’s true that Adams’s 9064LS driver has achieved legendary status at MyGolfSpy. It’s true that their MB2 and Idea Pro a12, and CB3 irons are among the best we’ve ever tested. It’s also true that while we think Adams probably doesn’t get the attention it deserves in other areas, we’re convinced there’s a damn good reason why Adams is the #1 Hybrid on Tour. Simply put, it’s because the “MyGolfSpy Staff”, and our club testers believe that Adams makes the best damn hybrid in golf. Adams hybrids are in my bag, and when you’re on our Tour Staff, they’ll be in yours too.
3. Mizuno – It’s hard to find the superlatives to describe the Mizuno irons and wedges that have come through our doors over the last several years. Each of us has our personal favorite Mizuno iron, and you could easily make a case that the MP-59 is, in every respect, the best player’s cavity back we’ve ever tested. Who wouldn’t love their own set of MP-59 irons? Of course, if a member of the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff” prefers something from the just announced MP lineup (MP-64, MP-H4), or the new JPX-825 series, we can make that happen too.
4. SCOR Golf – While we can’t help but be impressed that SCOR Golf was the only smaller golf company to take a home a Golf Digest medal on this year’s hotlist, we’ve said countless times that we think they got screwed (they deserve gold). Over the last several years we’ve tested dozens of golf clubs, but only 1 club has found its way into 3 different tester’s bags. That club is the SCOR 4161 wedge, and if you’re selected to join the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff”, it can be in your bag too.
5. Bettinardi – every week on tour you have to drool over the custom “tour only” putters you see all the pros playing…knowing that most likely you will never get your hands on one of these beauties much less own one. Well if you join us on the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff” that is exactly what you will get. A “tour only”…fit just like the pros….custom one-of-a-kind Bettinardi putter. This sucker is worth $1,100!
6. Bridgestone – While given what we’ve seen in 2012 you could make a case for Bridgestone to fill nearly any slot in the golf bag, the company is still better known for its golf balls…and why shouldn’t they be? With their BFIT system Bridgestone is a pioneer in the area of golf ball fitting. As one of the few companies to actually specifically design a tour quality ball for amateur quality swings, Bridgestone is able to deliver tour quality performance to the recreational golfer. As a member of the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff” you’ll be able to play whatever Bridgestone ball fits your game.
7. Sub70 – It took some prodding from long-time Sub70 fan and forum member JohnBarry before we got around to reaching out to Sub70. Once we did, we were hooked. There are a growing number of companies that specialize in golf apparel, but it’s our opinion that Sub70 is in a class by itself. Whether your mad for plaid, man enough to wear pink, or simply want something trendy, stylish, and most importantly insanely comfortable, Sub70 will exceed your every desire. As a member of the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff”, you’ll be able to outfit yourself with anything in the Sub70 catalog. Did I mention Sub70 makes the Best Pants Ever?
8. TRUE Linkswear – We didn’t select TRUE Linkswear simply because they make the best shoe in golf, we chose TRUE Linkswear because they make the best shoe…PERIOD. Seriously…can I be first on the list for a Tour Slipper? Our spies have reviewed countless shoes over the last 2 seasons, and despite facing ample competition, TRUE remains the go to shoe of Golf Spies Matt, Dave, Tim, and T. Like all of our Staff Spies, when you’re on our “Tour Staff”, you will wear TRUE Linkswear too.
9. Bushnell – One thing we can’t give members of our Tour Staff is a caddie, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have tools to help you navigate the golf course. In addition to being a leader in laser optics, and the #1 Rangefinder on the PGA Tour, Bushnell crated the first Laser and GPS in one, and is the undisputed leader in next generation GPS technology that’s both lightweight and simple to use. Select members of the “MyGolfSpy Tour Staff” will have the latest Bushnell Technology as part of their golfing arsenal.
10. Custom Bags Online – Pros get their names on the golf bags, why shouldn’t you? As a member of the MyGolfSpy Tour Staff you’ll get one better; a 100% custom MyGolfSpy Staff bag. J. Stewart is one of the only places that will create a 100% custom staff bag on a one-off basis, which is what they did for us last year. GolfSpy Tim currently owns the only MyGolfSpy Staff bag in existence, but our grand prize winner is going to receive one of his very own as well and be one of only 2 people to own the MGS Staff Bag.
