PXG’s Darkness Driver Appears in Thailand

PXG’s Darkness Driver Appears in Thailand

Not long ago we showed you a patent, and then a USGA photo of what very well could be the eventual retail (at least close as PXG comes to retail) version of PXG’s Darkness driver. Instagram user cnxgolf (which appears tied to a fitting studio in Bangkok Thailand) posted this pic of the new PXG driver.

The timing is certainly interesting given that the LPGA’s Honda LPGA Thailand event is this week.

As noted previously, what we see is a driver that appears to place a greater emphasis on perimeter weighting than the 0811 model which is currently in play on the PGA Tour. Perhaps the Darkness is designed with some or all of PXG’s LPGA staff in mind. PXG staffers Cristie Kerr and Beatriz Recari are both playing in this week’s event in Thailand.

For now it’s all educated speculation, and we’re not ruling out the possibility that this could still be in the prototype stages. We’re trying to track down more and will let you know what we find out.

Update: Word from PXG is that the Darkness driver is a prototype that Gerina Piller is testing.

Last thing golf needs is a company like this. Not a fan of PXG at all. If the equipment is so much better than everything else, why isn’t anybody who plays the stuff and has such a huge “advantage” winning anything???

Did you see the Stephen Curry teaser on MDrive today? Him and his teammate playing and interviewed in Orlando I presume after they smoked the Magic. There was a shot of the driver’s side bag loaded with PXG. And whoever drives the cart then PXG may be players irons, not just for rich golfers! Oh wait a sec….

Sweet, more way overpriced equipment that is not discernible from the other, not as much, but still overpriced golf equipment from other OEMS, cool.

If you think PXG is expensive

Remember you can spend 10k on a honma driver.

It’s called “Darkness” for a reason.. Do the weights on the sole resemble anything familiar?! Maybe ball and shaft, or two di*%s fighting.. Kinda funny! Not sure how know body at PXG noticed that before launching it

Is it just me or do all these screws and bolts and lines on these PXG clubs look like scars?!? Ugly, ugly, ugly, IMHO.

Don’t you know chicks dig scars? At least according to my orthopedic and cosmetic surgeons. Just saying, beer cart gurlz may dig your clubhead too?

No a bad looking driver but I personally like the more common brands of Titleist, Callaway and Cobra.

Most of the new drivers will only improve your distance so far, most golfers should be spending their hard earned money on golf lessons in my opinion.

When will you guys come to grips with the fact that this is an Uber expensive product meant for silly rich people. They don’t want to sell it to us, which is fine. Astono Martin doesn’t want to sell me cars and that doesn’t bother me a bit. Maybe one day if I do it right I’ll buy one. Same for pxg. Nothing wrong with having aspirational products. Besides, with the new Taylor made, Titleist, and Callaway clubs topping 500, they really aren’t that rediculous. Playing is getting cheaper, the tools are getting more expensive.

For two reasons, the sole of this PXG Driver reminds me of the scene off SUPERBAD where Jonah Hill is hiding his sketches in his lunchbox.

I guess this should only run me about say $1,200-$1500.00 depending on the shaft. I guess they(PXG) are figuring their survival on the 1%’rs who can try and buy a golf game? I on the other hand have realized over the last say 5 years or more there are no driver gains of more then 2-5 yards if that, technology has pretty much reached it’s peak by the USGA rules that are in affect. But if PXG wants to send me a driver to demo and if its better then my gamer by lets say 20-30 yards, I will buy it! That happening is about as good of chance as me hitting the lottery. The driver looks nice from address but just like every other NEW driver on the market your probably only going to gain on average a yard or two. Maybe if PXG can figure a way to make their products a little more reasonable priced for the average income guy/gal I would possibly consider buying their products. I do like the look of their T(tour) series iron.

Sweet looking, but I’ll never swing it…just like I’ll never get to drive a Maybach or a Lambo.
