So Much For Heel-Toe Weighting & High MOI Putters
Not often you hear about a driver or putter nowadays that isn’t promoting having a “High MOI”. The MOI catch phrase has been one of the biggest rages in golf club marketing hype over the past few years. So…when we saw a putter promoting the exact opposite we were a little surprised. we got a sneak-peek at one of Rife’s new flatsticks for 2009…it’s called the Rife IMO…and it has a new twist on improving your putting.
The Rife IMO…which stands for “Inline Momentum” contains nearly 85% of its weight is located in the middle of the face. The theory behind this is two-fold:
- Rife claims that almost every golfer only mis-hits the center of the face of a putter by just 5/8″ of an inch, so they believe by concentrating the mass of the putter directly behind the ball, it should improve the putter heads ability to drive through the ball at impact.
- Rife also feels that one of the major screw-ups with the average golfers putting is…deceleration…which is also improved with the weighting system on the new Rife IMO

So Does It Work?
Well the MyGolfSpy guys have only had a chance to test it out on artificial greens…and it did feel good. But we will have to test it out on some greens and put it to some further testing before we can give you an honest answer.
But Jesper Parnevik would say that it works pretty damn well I am sure. That’s because Jesper just made the switch to the Rife IMO back at the Bob Hope Classic and he fired a super low 61 with the Rife IMO! So what do YOU think…you like the looks…what about the theory behind the putter…have your voice be heard…leave us a comment.

Just bought the putter and tried it out yesterday. The feel was most impressive. Had 32 putts in 18 holes with 3 lip outs. Distance control was better than my Odyssey’s. Great feel and easy line up.
