SPY PICS – MIZUNO S5 Wedge

SPY PICS – MIZUNO S5 Wedge

You can count on Mizuno’s late summer/fall releases like clockwork, and so here’s your first look at part of Mizuno’s 2016 lineup, courtesy of Charles Howell III.

Behold the S5 wedge, AKA Blue Magic.

Not only do we have a departure from Mizuno’s T and R series wedges, but it appears Mizuno has gone blue (to match the metalwoods lineup).

What do you think?

Would you put a blue wedge into your bag?

Just replaced my wedges with Mizuno (BLUE) S 5’s. 52-56-60. They are great My 60 has a 4 degree bounce and is my favorite tool. They stand up to the VOKEY’S

Remind me some of the Callaway “Jaws” wedges.

Bought a T5 56 last fall when I left wedges at home by accident. Liked it so much I bought a 60 earlier this year. They’re good wedges, so, yes, I’d take a good hard look at anything Mizuno put out, regardless of color.

Forgot to add I game a 52 degree T4 wedge that I absolutely love so if these additions to the Mizuno family are the same I’ll be adding them to my bag ASAP. I also have the JPX 3 Fairway and 3 & 4 hybrids as well as the MP 54 irons.

After my experience with Mizuno this last six months I’d put one of their fishing rods in my bag. Their gear is so good and such good quality that I find it amazing. Blue wedge? Hell Bubba plays a pink driver…

It all comes down to feel, and while the more traditional look like my Mizuno MPT T11 wedges look and play beautifully for me, if these felt and played better, why not? My wedges have black KBS shafts with blue grips, so pairing these heads with a black shaft and blue grips could look pretty damn sharp, but I have a Red cobra Fly Z+ driver with a blue shaft ( my ode to Optimus Prime), so i go with what i like.

So, what is the difference between the S5 and the T5 other than they are blue?

Wilson also has come out with blue wedges. Is this a new trend and is there any practical reasoning for it? I do like the looks of it from the photos.

What I have been told is that the color blue is the most appealing color to the eye. N

I like it. I don’t like the metal woods being blue but on the wedges, it looks great.

Absolutely! I would love to put some Blue Wedges in my bag……currently I have Blue Cobra Bio Cell Driver, Fairways, Hybrid & irons……with Blue Project X shafts and Blue Pure Grips, all stored in a Blue UK Wildcat Bag.
