It’s not optional. Regardless of what those Foot and Frisbee guys tell you, you absolutely can’t play golf without it.
It’s the golf ball, and it’s having a very interesting year.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Several direct-to-consumer brands have developed cult followings. Several of those brands are being sued.
- Snell entered the market with a tour ball sold at less than a tour price.
- Callaway introduced the ball that changed the ball.
- Titleist released new versions of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x firming up its stranglehold on the ball market.
Along the way there’s been plenty of talk about what’s important in golf ball design. The ball manufacturers are telling you what you need in a golf ball, and while most of what they’re telling us has merit, ultimately it’s your money, and so you get to decide what really matters.
Is it cost? Performance? Feel? Is it really as simple as brand recognition?
