TESTERS WANTED!!! – CARBON RINGO 1/4 PUTTER

TESTERS WANTED!!! – CARBON RINGO 1/4 PUTTER

So when you hear the name “Ringo,” what do you think of?

If you’re like most of humanity, you’re thinking drums, the Fab Four and yellow submarines.

If you’re into Westerns, however, you may be thinking about Wyatt Earp’s gun-slinging nemesis – Johnny Ringo from Tombstone.

“I’m your huckleberry…”

But if you’re a putter freak – and let’s face it, most of us are – you’re probably thinking about the Cinderella-story-outta-nowhere MyGolfSpy’s 2015 Most Wanted Blade from the folks at Carbon Putters.

Carbon Putters Ringo 14 -1

Carbon’s Ringo ¼ long-neck model shocked the big boys in this year’s blade competition, and finished a strong #2 overall. Our testers found the Ringo ¼ to be just like its Old West Outlaw namesake: a stone-cold killer of 3-putts.

Well, it’s the end of the year and we’d like you to check our work. Did MyGolfSpy get it right?

We’re looking for 4 right-handed puttin’ pistoleros to try out the Ringo ¼ and tell their fellow golfers if this putter is, in fact, the Most Wanted Blade of 2015.

Carbon Putters - Ringo 14 - 3

ABOUT THE RINGO ¼

Carbon is headquartered just south of Denver, where they do all their milling, finishing and assembling. Here are the specifics on the Ringo ¼:

  • 370 Gram Head Weight
  • Shaft Lengths 32-37 inches
  • Lie: 70*
  • Loft 3*
  • Black Obsidian finish

It’s machined from a single block of carbon steel and it’s longer neck makes it more face balanced, with less toe hang, than other blade putters. The Ringo ¼ comes with a PURE PRO 55 gram putter grip and an Ace of Clubs White Alligator pattern head cover.

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. You MUST be a MyGolfSpy Forum Member to apply. If you aren’t, sign up HERE.
  2. In the Carbon Putter – Ringo ¼ Testing thread (click here), tell us your:
    1. Name and home state
    2. Current putter

We’ll choose 4 of you to try out the Carbon Ringo ¼ and let us know if it is, in fact, the year’s Most Wanted Blade Putter.

NOTE: This testing opportunity is limited to right handed golfers in the continental US only.

Good Day Ya’ll, did I get the good fortune to roll some with CARBON and gather feedback with my two groups yet? I mean, I keep checking my USPS, UPS, Fedex, and the occasional DHL guys but I’m still baggin’ my #7 mid…

I’m always interested in new technologies. Be it clubs, balls, gloves, or bags. It’s part of the fun of golf which I’ve played since age 11 and still playing 5 days a week at age 68 despite many physical limitations. I’d be your perfect “huckleberry”. Certainly fitting into decades of testing, buying, and giving away golf products that did not fit my swing, tempo, or confidence over the club. Sign me up!

I bought the Ringo this fall. Put a red shaft in it. Great putter. I’ve had over 20 different Cameron putters the last 5 years. They can’t touch this putter. The head is a little heavier. I only had it in time to play last couple weeks of October and November. It will be in the bag next spring when I get through tax season.

I switch between Ping Ketsch and a SC fastback 1.5 (the original fastback). I like the feel of heavier putters (switched the weights on the fastback to 30g x2) and the carbon is 370.

Currently gaming and old (circa 1991), ugly triangular mizuno putter, that I love because it was my first piece of “pro-line” equipment. My dad, who was not a golfer, bought it for me at a pawn shop when I was taking up the game. Have a couple newer putters around, but have been gaming the mizuno since dad passed in February. But it’s time to find a new flatstick. Been researching and testing the big boys, but always ready to give an up-and-comer a shot

Funny enough my putter looks very similar to this putter. I play the Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 with Black Finish 34″. Would love to give the Ringo a shot. I’ll be your Huckleberry…

I would like to be a tester in this study. I currently use a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter and would be very surprised if there is another putter out there that would yield better results than what I am currently getting. I am very open minded and unbiased. If there is something that I can put in my bag that will help improve my game, I will do it. I have no loyalty to any particular brand and view my equipment very selfishly. If it’s going to make a difference, it’s going into my bag.

The greatest blade putter of any era is still the Wilson 8802 and the follow up Wilson Tour Special, both real blades and not copies of the Anser.

I would be interested in demo’ing a Carbon Putter. I noticed they are based out of CO, and they are about an hour South of me, and I had no idea. I’d be willing to go to their shop and take some pics, and do a write up as well if that would help you guys out. Thanks!
