Testers Wanted: Super Stroke TX1 Grips

Time to regrip?

“Little darlin’, I see the ice is slowly melting….”

Here comes the sun and, for golfers, I say it’s alright (and about time)!

It’s getting to be time to regrip your clubs for the upcoming season. For 10 of you, that means an opportunity to put SuperStroke’s new TX1 grips to the test and to share your findings with the rest of the MyGolfSpy Community.

Tx1-Grips-16

Enter the SuperStroke TX1

Whether it’s Slim, Fat or Flat(so), Super Stroke has, quite literally, changing the shape of putter grips. Now the company wants a crack at the rest of your clubs with its new TX1 multi-material grip. According to SuperStroke, the upper section is a soft, tacky cord for superior club control without slippage, while the lower section is soft rubber for increased feel. The grips are offered in standard and oversized models and, in true SuperStroke style, are available in five different color combinations.

Tx1-Grips-17

We’re offering 10 readers the chance to test and review the new TX1. Here are the details.

Requirements

  • Must be able to string sentences together in a coherent fashion (wit and humor are a bonus)
  • Must be capable of producing quality photos
  • Must have willingness, time, and ability to test Super Stroke TX1 grips.

How to enter:

If you haven’t done so already, Subscribe to the MyGolfSpy Newsletter:

How often do you regrip? Once a season.

Why I’d be a great tester: This is easy. No one, and I mean NO ONE has sweatier hands than I do. I have set the bar high. Any grip that can survives and performs well in the North Carolina’s summer humidity is worth its weight in gold.

My handicap is 18 trending downward.

My current grips are the PING customs mid-sized.

In the last three years or 80 plus rounds, I have not re-gripped my irons but the time is nye!
With my newly found freedom from deployments in my new job and a golf course within five minutes on base, I see myself being a tester of expected quality and Lord knows, with an 18 handicap applied, I’d be doing plenty of testing of these TX1s.

What grip you are currently playing: On my Nikes, the Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G. On my Taylormades, the Golf Pride CP2. The Callaways are currenly sporting the Lamkin UTx grips.
How often you regrip your clubs: 12 months. I suppose it’s little much but I love the feel of new grips.
Why you would be an awesome grip tester: I’m a professional photographer by day and a writer for 2 magazines. This means that I’ll be able to string together words in such a way that will not hint at childhood head trauma and take pictures with something other than an iPhone. Also, I am helping a friend of mine start a golf site so I have some experience writing about the game as well. From a golf perspective, I am a tireless tinkerer. I play about once a week and have had more iron sets in the past year than most will own in their lifetimes. As for grips, good god. I’ve used so many that I could probably give you a quick pro/con list about almost any grip produced in the last half decade. Also, I love mygolfspy.com and have sworn by it for the as long as I’ve been playing golf. It’d be a privilege and an honor to work with proper golf villains.

Can anyone tell me why cord grip is needed in a putter? I don’t play those grips on my irons because they are a little rough on my paws, but I understand the need for cord in irons because they do provide good grip. But a putter isn’t a club that needs a lot of torque, I’ve never had a sweaty putter fly into a lake on a 100 degree day. Thoughts?

Currently Playing – Lamkin Crossline full cord
Normally Regrip – Once per season
Why I would be an awesome tester – I play four days a week come rain or shine or tidal wave. I have two sets so I could alternate between my known grips and the test grips to compare feel back to back without petty things (like how badly I am playing) getting in the way of my observation. Also, I like the idea of brand new grips on an old set of Ben Hogan’s.

Why would I be an awesome tester? I live in Ca. play every week at all types of courses with different weather conditions from just the normal awesome Ca. everyday weather to the desert dry heat in Palm Springs, Coastal courses and mountain courses. I am always trying new products as with most golfers who loves the game and are always looking for that next great miracle product to cure all our faults and give us that perfect swing : )

Why you would be an awesome grip tester: I am a broke college kid who spends any extra money he has to get out on the course. Most of the time I just end up sneaking on to the University golf course. I don’t have any brand loyalty when it comes to golf products, so my reviews are very independent and unbiased. Also, if you picked me, you could probably right this off as a donation to charity.

Why would I be an awesome grip tester ? I currently work at a Dicks sporting goods where I could give positive feedback to out customers about these new grips. I was a collegiate golfer and was awarded conference player of the year twice. Currently I coach collegiate golf as well so I could talk to my players about the new grips. I play all the time in all conditions so these grips would get put through the ringer. I give my honest opinion about anything and will tell you if I don’t really care for something. I like how these grips are set up like my current grips. Plus I love my new counter balanced super stroke grip! Best one to date

Why I would be an awesome grip tester: The first reason is I love golf! I play as often as possible all year round, and I believe that having good grips is quintessential in playing golf so that the club doesn’t slip in your hands. I would love the opportunity to try out these grips and give my honest review about them. Thank you!

Why you would be an awesome grip tester: I self taught myself to build clubs and regrip, and I regrip for my buddies (no charge of course). They always like to see what I’m using and ask my to grip their with what I’m currently using… they value my choices and guidance. I choose grips by feel and by reviews (there aren’t many).

I have for the past 2 years been using the Super Stroke golf grips (non putter) called Pressure Zone. Found them a few yrs back at Golfworks in Ottawa in the clearance bin for $3.00. reg $10.00, bought 30 of them. Unique thing about them was they felt like a soft Winn (Dritech) which i like and didn’t have a taper. There mostly a parallel grip (no need for additional wraps of tape for bottom hand. They go on very easy using air pressure. (That’s all i use now. After using them for a while i realized i kinda liked them. I tend to wash my grips a lot and they seem to last. If you know much about washing grips rubber grips dry almost immediately. Well one day with about 45 minutes till tee time, i washed a Winn grip on the driver. 1 hr later still not dry. (hair dryer) These are a lot like a Winn. Since my supply was running out i tried to find some more and to my dismay i couldn’t find them anywhere on the Internet, Ebay etc. I vven called the company SS who said they had a new grip coming out and i see they have arrived. Can’t wait for them to get to Golfworks, Ottawa.
A little about myself , i’m a part time club builder repair man and been doing this over 25 yrs and changed lots of grips. Two of the bests grips that come to mind are the Star Grips (smoothie) and the new Pure grips. Winn grips are nice but if you play a lot they wear out very quickly and at $10 a pop can be costly. The Super Stroke have been on present set for over a yr and still i like them. (i wash my grips at least once a week). Super Stroke had a grip called Multi Traction Splash in 2014 catalogue which didn’t have the same feel as the Pressure Zone. Felt more like a corded or hard rubber grip.
Can’t wait to see the reviews and to see if there non taper
Wow that was a lot of one finger typing

      •Your handicap: around a 9
•What grip you are currently playing: multiple, some are standard manufactures grips but my main grips are black widow multi compound grips, love them.
•How often you regrip your clubs: About every two years, long winters in Alaska prevent me from playing as much as I would like to.
•Why you would be an awesome grip tester: I have no loyalty to any brand and can give a completely unbiased opinion about pretty much anything. For instance I have four different brands of clubs in my bag and even my bag is another brand or I should say bags. Ok after reading Johnny’s thread I think he should definitely be a tester, and I don’t know who Johnny is but that’s funny no matter who you are.

Why me – Been playing for 50+ years; am a handsome devil; change grips when I play poorly as it’s never the club or me; do my own club repair (plus some for my country club and friends); am an all around good guy; play all over the world; 50-75 rounds per year; know what is good (and not good); like grips that accentuate the accuracy and distance that is obtained in the occasional club toss; always toss the club in the direction you are headed to save time; take my golf seriously (sometimes); always enjoy a good time; have done shots out of unused grips with a tee stuck in the hole so nothing would spill; am pretty clever; will probably try the SuperStroke grips anyway; have a SuperStroke grip on my four alternately used putters (unlike my clubs, I blame my putters for bad rounds and sometimes need to put them in a dark area until they stop misbehaving); know the guys who originally started the SuperStroke putter grip company as they are from my club; have been a tester before for other golf items; did I mention I’m a good guy… and handsome?

Why you would be an awesome grip tester: I have two hands, 10 fingers (no mentionable/visible deformities), a fully functional sense of touch and the ability to squeeze things at many pressures (still talking golf grips here). Other than these “unique” talents I have decent grammar (I don’t say y’all or yell mashed potato) and out of the majority of the people I know I like to think that my opinion tends to count the most (they will verify this).

Regrip, every year at least once. Wedges twice a year if not three times.

i am your best opction since i play golf five times a week all year round, in cold, warm and rainy conditions wich will allow me to review your grips under any possible sircunstance. I also hit many balls a day so i would be able totest durability and endurance. I strongly believe Grip performance is a key element to good golf.
i have tried every single type of grip out in the market, being able to compare your product among the leader brands and make a detailed review.

Apart from that im extremly good looking, not that the grips care but im just saying! ;-)

I would be an ideal tester of these super stroke grips. I am a former Canadian Tour player and current PGA instructor at Oshawa Golf and Curling Club with a plus 5 handicap. I tried several grips in my 8 years on tour and I believe the grips are one of the most overlooked component of golfers equipment. As your only connection to the he club, proper grips are essential to performance. I change my grips after about 200 rounds. I currently use golf pride multi-compound grips which seem directly comparable to these new super strokes.

Here’s why myspygolf needs to to the SuperStroke TX1 grips in my hands as a tester… As golfers we all have some built-in preferences towards certain brands. As fans and supporters of mygolfspy, we tend to be a little more skeptical of manufacturers claims and a little more open to “hard” data. I have been a recreational golfer for just over 10 years. I’d play 5 days a week if I wasn’t in the throes of fatherhood and employment. I’m 43 years old and I am passionate about the performance of any products related to my multitude of hobbies. Whether golf, fishing, art, or my graphic design – I am passionate about the tools I use and I require the best bang for the buck in most cases. I only go premium when the performance benefits are undeniable.
      1. My handicap has finally dipped into the teens after a decade of dedicated yet sporadic periods of play. 19
      2. Currently, and for the last 7 years, I’ve used the Golf Pride New Dexade grip in standard. It’s not for lack of trying others. It’s just that the few that I’ve tried to use to leverage the New Decades out of the bag consistently fall short in several areas.
      3. I Subscribe to the theory of holding the grip as gently as possible, so I like my grips TACKY. Any sense of a grip having the ability to slip or twist on impact will result in its being sliced off the shaft the next day. Having said that – I usually get 10-12 rounds out of my New Decades before I feel the need to regrip. I should note that I use the same grip and color Driver through LW. I like consistent feel and visuals throughout my set.
      4. I’d be an awesome grip tester because of my innate ability to use adjectives to relate my experiences and thought process to others. I like to lead readers on a clear train of thought always keeping in mind what information I hope to glean when I read similar reviews. I’d be great. Plus I am a formally trained graphic designer with camera skills to boot!

I would be a good tester because I worked in the golf business for a number of years (no longer in the business). I worked for 2 major oems, both in top 5 equipment manufactures. I played division one collegiate golf in the big ten. I play 50-75 times per year and normally regrip every 1.5 years unless I change clubs.

I am kind of a grip addict. I change mine at least once a year. I also change all of my friends and my wife’s quite often. I have experimented with many different brands and styles of grips. I play probably 50-60 rounds a year and around 5-10 tournaments so they would be put to good use. I was wondering when SuperStroke would break out of just putter grips and am excited to see them finally do so. Living in north Louisiana, golfers here are tested with many different weather conditions daily. It’s rainy, cold, hot, HUMID, and/or dry. Different every day. I would love to test these grips out and give you a very accurate review.

Well I regrip more often than I probably should 2-3 times a year because my other junkie buddies and I like to tinker in the “groove shop” one of our garages while drinking beer and bullshitting. I am currently in the golf pride Cp2 wrap mid size with 3 wraps of tape underneath. I’m a 3 handicap, and I’m on pace for 152 rounds this year (I’ve been keeping track on my desk calendar at work). To be honest I only have probably 10 rounds on these grips so I’m not that psyched to cut them off yet, but would do so I could get at least mid size super stroke grips.
