Moe Norman
The tale of the greatest golfer you’ve never heard of. Here’s to the man who hit it so straight, he could play in the dark.

Great video however this video only tells about 1% of the great Moe stories out there. I only know about 3% of them and wish I knew more but there are some real treats.

I saw Moe at the Canadian Open, about 1973 or 4. Strange swing, so I dismissed it.
Of course, I have heard about Moe many more times, and I run into his swing on YouTube every time I look at a Hogan swing. I heard about Wally Uilein’s $5000 a month gift as well.
Thanks to this short for making me take notice again.

Is that movie still in production? I know they were shooting for 2009 but I though it has since been dumped… Anyways wonderful video it really captured the brilliance that was the man.

Nice little bit. I would like to know more about Moe. It’s ashame he really didn’t get a chance to show his talents on the PGA Tour. But I have heard Moe praised by players like Arnold, Jack, and others from their era also have heard Nick Faldo have nothing but great things to say about this mans talents and his ball striking being second to none! Can’t wait for this movie…I hope they do Moe justice! Long Overdue.

Moe was unique in every sense of the word. I had the privilege of playing with him at the CPGA Tournament held at the Rivermead G&CC here in Quebec, Canada, were I was a member. I have since played with many touring pros but none were as great, he was ‘SIMPLY THE BEST’ Like Christopher says, ‘”let’s keep his spirit alive”. By the way I did have the Drambuie drink and just like Moe it’s GREAT!

He was truly amazing from everything I’ve read. You can see his swing in numerous videos on YouTube. His single plane swing style is taught under the name “Natural Golf”.

I think Moe’s quite well known now with the advent of golf forums like this. It won’t be long before Hogan and Nicklaus are distant memories unless we educate the next generation of golfers about their brilliance. But we should keep his spirit alive and make sure the world never forgets him as it’s the least he deserves. He was a shy guy who just wanted to play.
‘A couple of young hopefuls’? Wasn’t that Faldo, Price, Freddie Couples, Crenshaw (and some of other guy I can’t quite make out). Oh to be as hopeful as the guys…

Good piece, except Moe was very much known. In particular to Canadians and top American amatures and Pro’s alike in his era. Myself and other Canadian Pro’s who had the privilage of playing with him respected and were in awe of his ability. Yes he was different, and walked a different path than most. To be different or to speak the truth is often seen as Politically Incorrect. Shame . Moe had his little circle of friends who protected him from others, still a few got through to explote him. Anyone who might care to learn more of this incredibe individual should read the writng of Lorne Rubinstien a Golf writer with World class cedentials.

Great short. I wonder how many more Moe Normans are out there (unknown/shunned)? Drambuie Liqueur Co. should be commended for this terrific short. What year was this produced? Do you know if they won any awards for this? It sure seems like something that should have won some awards. I want to go have a few in that pub and talk some golf with the bartender :)
