I Swore I would Never Cover Tiger Woods
I swore I would never cover Tiger Woods as long as I was running MyGolfSpy. Not because I don’t appreciate the mans talent…and love how the man competes. Professional Golf needs a hell of a lot more guys that have and show the passion he does for the game. The reason I swore I would never cover him is because every other golf site on the planet earth covers Tiger…so much so that no one really reads any of those articles anymore. Well at least until now they didn’t. Golf journalism has become almost like every other news station and magazine out there. They all give us paralysis by MAJOR over-analysis. Their words are becoming deaf on our ears. You can’t go anywhere anymore…whether it be your local bank line…at the gym on the treadmill…filling your tank at the gas station…hell even in the bathroom…without a damn TV being turned on to some news station with a babbling idiot re-spouting the same information over and over until they beat every damn story to death.
And the same is true with the Tiger Woods story…he is just praying to pass the baton on to the next trainwreck that comes along and steals his unwanted thunder.
I have gotten hundreds of emails, text messages, direct Twitter messages and Facebook pop-ups asking me what I think and what I know. I really don’t know much. I cover equipment…that is my passion. But I have gotten tons of info from all kinds of sources telling me what they know happened. I really don’t care if he cheated on his wife or not and whether or not she ran after him in a rage swinging a golf club at him making him swerve off the road into a tree. I mean ALL of us have things that happen in our home that no one else needs to know and honestly why would they care to know. If they spent more time fixing their own problems in their own houses and less time trying to analyze others this country might not be in as bad of a place as it is currently.
So after all these emails and sources coming forward with their “Tiger Tip of the Day” we decided we had to cover this. But we would do it with a bit of humor. We were sent this CRAZY re-enactment of the crash created by the Chinese Press. I wonder what the production cost on this low-budget short film was.

As you said MGS private lives should remain just that… private. But I imagine I was like millions of people around the world – concerned for Tiger’s well-being and good health when we heard abouth the crash. I guess he should have spoken a little sooner than he did – it wasn’t the best handled situation in the Wood’s camp. He shouldn’t be surprised if peoples imaginations get the better of us or him. I honestly thought he was above such things we forget he’s human. Regarding the little CGI video I guess they won’t be animating the next Tiger Woods game by EA Sports LOL.

We should all be careful what we wish for. Celebrity isn’t always what it is cracked up to be. Once you enter America’s conscience as an idol, politician, celebrity, movie star or star athlete, you have already given up your privacy. If a celebrity, does something out of character, good luck keeping it secret. When the media machine finds out, they will eat you up and spit you out. Then they will wait for the next sensational soap opera/train wreck to come along. Though we shall never experience Isleworth, being an average golfing Joe has it’s advantages.

Secrets, not forever!
this tiger thing, will fill slots on the news channels, news papers and magazines,it will all blow over soon ,in these hard times, afganistan and poor econemy this story is at least for some of us rather funny,as long as it does not get dirty it could run until the new season starts and then tigers golf must do the talking´!

I agree with your comments. It is interesting that Tiger has such OCD concerning his privacy yet he is out messing around with “Public” women.
Everyone has their Achilles Heel. This was eventually going to come out. It will be interesting to see if he can make it through this without any mishaps.
I hope he won’t be tabloid fodder. He will need to be able to brush this off and not get offended every time somebody brings it up, otherwise he is a caught fish!

I think since he grew up so secluded and kind of nerdy that now he feels like he has to take advantage of his status….and I don’t think he even thought about how dumb it was to not only mess with public women but cocktail waitresses which are always the biggest drama queens to date.

To be honest, I couldn’t give a monkeys who or how many Tiger is meant to have bedded… Golf needs him much more than he needs golf, so it will all get brushed under the carpet… Sky Sports have just secured the rights to the PGA tour after 2 years of Setanta screwing everything up over here in the UK and I can’t wait to watch it again, especially with Tiger involved…
December 8th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I can’t comment on Setanta but I’m disappointed that the PGA Tour is going back to Sky the Eurosport coverage has been very good with very little commercial breaks. Been a non Sky Sports subscriber it has been a treat watching the golf for free – after the Shark Shoot Out this week I’m going miss it as it’s back to BBC’s limited coverage (which Sky ruined this year – think of the PGA Championship and Loch Lomond by taking over Thrsday and Friday).

The Eurosport coverage has amounted to the US network commentators and gaps inbetween when the States coverage goes to ads, filled a man with the most boring voice I’ve ever heard… Sky fill these gaps with people from a studio who actually talk about whats happening, not what we’re missing out on!!! Plus, as far as I know, it’ll be in HD, which is just another reason its great to have it back!!!

who cares about TW and his going ons. I watch golf to watch golf.. not here about somebodies dirty laundry. 99% of the hypocrits shouldn’t be casting stones living in glass houses
December 8th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
AGRRE! I’ll bet 99% of the morons commenting on his wrong doings have done the same or worse. What he did doesn’r affect anyone except his family! PERIOD. GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE you so called PERFECT PEOPLE. Tiger is human lie everyone else! His golf game may not be human but he does have flaws just like you & I. Give it a rest.

I think the reinactment character of Tiger has a little too much hair.
Tiger has loads of money and has woman who want to get close to him-WOW-SUCH A REVELATION! Oh and he bumped his car.
He’s human!

We sent a note to the producers of the film…hopefully they will change the hair in the 2nd edition

People have commented that the PGA Tour wouldn’t be where it is now without Tiger and everytime a player wins a million dollar cheque it’s because of Tiger which I partially believe. 20 years ago players were winning a 180 thousand first prize for standard events now it’s four or five times that even if Tiger doesn’t play. Nobody brings people through the gates like Tiger and backs it up with great play. I think Jack Nicklaus once said top tennis players win 80% of the time and golfers lose 80% of the time Tiger has been the closest (if he already hasn’t) to breaking those statistics.

Tiger has done a great deal for the game there is no doubt about it.

it is almost unbelievable how sloppy he was in not covering his tracks a little better. i mean it was one thing for john rollins to step out on his wife when she was 8 months pregnet, and nobody really cared but this is TIGER WOODS! he is the most reconizeable face in the world and he’s in nightclubs and resteraunts hooking up the help wha the fu–! So let this be a lesson to all you married tour pro’s .the smarter investment would be a call girl or hooker ,at least you can buy their loyalty

I am sure he thought he would NEVER get caught. Money will do that to people.
