My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

Chris i think you missed the point…What Tom is talking about is Custom Fit. Not just off the rack stuff but Custom Fit to you and your golf swing.

i’m not buying this point that getting hand made clubs is necessary. Many years ago I’m sure people believe there was no technology left but it is possible, new technology comes out all the time and he is right some of it works and some of it doesn’t, but you can get clubs mass produced tailored to every trait of you golf game. grips are interchangable, shafts can be switched out and its not like this guy makes grips and shafts. there are tons of different club heads available that have different cavities, soles, grinds, toplines, weight and offsets, many clubs don’t come with the shaft and grip you may need but he makes it sound impossible or ungodly hard to get a club for you

What Tom is doing you cannot compare to getting fitted in a store with off the rack stuff.
I’ve recently been to a club custom fitting and the first thing the fitter did, was to measure my old equipment. These were off the rack irons (not cheap, but I won’t mention names). Easy to sat that everything was way off. Moi was different even the lengths of the shafts varied too much. The weight was too.
Off to the range. Warming up with my 6-iron. When ready, he gave me an iron which was easy to hit and the ball went fairly straight. But he wasn’t satisfied, we could do better. After trying around 8 different heads mounted on equally or more different shafts and hitting around 300 balls, we finally found the right shaft length, weight and club head.
Now the ball flies longer, straighter and most importantly, I hit it with much more confidence.
So now I’m just waiting for my new set of irons. I’m even going to help him build some of the clubs!
Custom club fitting done THE RIGHT WAY is so much more than going to your local golf store and trying a few clubs in a simulator or track man.

Hey Ryan – his books are a good edition to your library. I think I have all of them now.

Toms advice about club fitting is spot on. The “fly in the ointment” though is finding a fitter who is not drinking the kool aid. There are numerous posts on forums from people who have been fit from people who adhere to formulas rather than true knowledge. Those expensive mistakes tarnish the craft.

That is a major issue…it can severely effect your game to be fit by someone that is not qualified.

That is a great video. I really respect Tom Wishon. He has created some great designs. If you haven’t tried any of his designs they are well worth the try. His irons are some of the best I have ever hit.

Tom is one of the truly great people in the business. And he is also one of the only ones that is willing to spread his knowledge.

That is what sets him apart from others in the industry. He spreads his wealth of knowledge when others don’t!

Tom is one one of if not the most respected names in the golf equipment industry. I’ve always meant to pick up a few of his books but they aren’t that easy to find down here.

Awesome video! Someone finally telling it how it is! I think if your equipment is out of date, then it’s important to get modern day equipment, but if you’ve already bought a set of clubs 5-10 years ago, you don’t really need to buy more equipment. I’m not saying it’s not fun to have new sticks in the bag, but if more people spent their golf money on taking lessons instead of buying every new driver that came out, we’d have a much better golf population.
