Finalists Announced!
With the entry round of the MyGolfSpy Tour Staff Contest behind us, it’s time to announce our finalists. One of these guys is going to win a huge prize packaged valued at over $5,200. The guy who finishes 2nd walks away with a pretty incredible prize valued at over $3,500.
Remember, just because you weren’t selected as a finalist doesn’t mean you can’t walk away with a pretty sweet prize of your own. The 3rd place prize winner (valued at almost $1700) will be selected at random from everyone who votes in the 2nd round of the contest. Each vote it good for 1 entry in our 3rd place drawing, and you may vote up to once per day for the next two weeks.

Basically…in almost every other contest, the 3rd place prize would make an awesome grand prize. In case you’ve forgotten, here’s what the 3rd place winner gets:
3rd Place:
(1) – TaylorMade Driver
(1) – TaylorMade Fairway Wood
(1) – Adams Hybrid
(2) – SCOR 4161 Wedges
(3) – Dozen Bridgestone Golf Balls
(1) – Golf Outfit from Sub70USA
(1) – Pair of TRUE Linkswear phx Golf Shoes
Prize Value: $1,675
Now that we’ve got that squared away, let’s have a look at our 10 finalists in the MyGolfSpy Tour Staff Giveaway.
The Staff Pics
Just because you don’t have 1000 friends, it doesn’t mean you don’t have good ideas. After reviewing every last one of the contest entries, the staff has selected our 5 favorites. Like the guys who coasted through on votes alone, these guys are also through to the finals.
Will D. wants us to provide you an opportunity to give better feedback on our reviews.
2) I will buy the item within the next year
3) I liked the review, but will not buy the item
4) The review is biased or is not thorough
5) This is the worst review I’ve ever read.Plus, the results could provide market data you could use when selling ads
Eric H. wants to see more head to head reviews.
Will P. suggested we bring in some professionals to help with instruction, fitting, and fitness. We’re trying Will, we’re trying.
Brian P. wants to see more life style articles, behind the scenes coverage, and broader coverage in a general sort of way.
Finally, Drew S. wants to replace those “get in the hole guys” with people who can actually help spread awareness of the MyGolfSpy Brand.
The Automatic Qualifiers
Maybe these guys have good ideas, maybe they don’t. What we’re fairly certain of is that they at least have loyal friends who might actually want them to win this contest. So anyway, here are the 5 that made it through to round 2 as automatic qualifiers.
James R. was the top vote getter for round 1. He moves on to the finals with this little rant about adding a travel section.
Kevin L. finished #2 in the voting by narrowly avoiding the use of the word Robot.
Elie wants…well…a lot.
A-Why you suck (even if you don’t really suck)
1-You should do your club test in comparison with others and this after a real fitting to be more precise, combine with a radar. (ball speed, rpm, launch angle, dispersion…). for the moment it’s not enough precise.
B-What You Could improve to be more spy and funny!
You could post more videos of miss shot by golf pros on range or on the course. It can help some golfer to have more confidence.
also post some dialogue between players and caddies could be fun.
Jason B. was one of many who suggested we do more testing of component brands
And finally Dan M. rounds out the top 5 with this almost incomprehensible rambling about a battle with a Yeti, and his inability to win anything.
Voting Starts Now!
Voting starts NOW!. The final round runs for 2 solid weeks, so be vote and vote often. Tell your friends. Hell, tell your friends to tell their friends.
Once again, everyone who votes in the 2nd round will be automatically entered to win the 3rd place prize. You can vote once per day for the duration of the contest. You must be subscribed to our newsletter to win.

I hope this doesn’t sound like sour grapes because I’m not talking about the fact that you chose this entry as one of your finalist. I’m simply stating I don’t agree with what he wants and that is Brian P. I don’t want to see you spend your valuable time doing lifestyle articles. There are hundreds if not thousands of sites that do that and some of them very well. Why just add to the clutter? You do a great job of equipment testing and reviewing and that is your niche. Don’t take away from what you do great to become just another golf site.

+10 David….Great point!!…I believe that MGS has carved out a nice niche, and I believe, and if you look at the successful small to mid-sized businesses, it’s more profitable to be narrow & deep(Specialist) than to be broad & shallow(generalist, any big-box store)..In my grad school classes, I use the analogy of medicine, specifically physicians…Who earns more, a general practicioner or a specialist?…Who is more esteemed?…Answer: Specialist…
You cannot be all things to all people…It can cripple a large business(Callaway) & it will kill a small-mid sized business…If they have a life-time forum, fine, though I would put my resources into the equipment & Tour side of the blog & forum….I went and looked & you’re right, there are at least hundreds of sites…
You got the best post on the page & it would’ve been a hell of an entry…If you haven’t already, stop in the forum, I think you’d like the topics & the guys/girls…..
Fairways & Greens 4ever…
