(4) Testers Wanted: Callaway Steelhead XR/XR Pro Irons

Can a remake ever be as good as the original? How about a remake that’s even better than the original?

What started with Big Bertha has escalated…quickly. Callaway has steadily resurrected iconic names its past – Great Big Bertha, Fusion, Apex and more relevant for today’s purpose, Steelhead.

You could say Callaway hit the proverbial daily double with its Steelhead XR and Steelhead XR Pro irons. At last count, Steelhead XR is the number one selling iron in golf, which is part of the reason why Callaway is now the number one hard goods brand in golf.

By plenty of accounts, Steelhead represents more than just a new dress on an old girl, but does the performance actually live up the hype?

That’s where you come in.

Testers Wanted:

According to Callaway, while the new incarnation of Steelhead retains the original’s signature shape, it offers breakthrough performance. On paper, both the XR and XR Pro models check all the boxes: speed and distance from the next-generation 360 Cup Face Technology, a Bore-Thru hosel for greater forgiveness, and a progressive center of gravity for more control.

That’s on paper. What happens on the golf course?

Can these new sticks with an old name improve your ball striking and help you shoot lower scores? We need four avid golfers to help us find out.

Callaway Steelhead XR Pro - 13

How To Apply:

As you know, we take our club testing very seriously here at MyGolfSpy. We need two of you to test and review (and keep) a set of Callaway Steelhead XRs, and two more to test and review (and keep) a set of Steelhead XR Pros.

If you’d like to be a tester, please follow these instructions carefully:

First, if you haven’t already, you MUST register for the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here to register).

Second, once you are in the Community Forum, you MUST apply in the Official Callaway Steelhead XR/XR Pro Testers Wanted Thread (click here).

That’s all there is to it!

We will announce the four testers in the Community Forum next week, so check back there.

These are exciting times IMHO, there are so many top clubs for any level of player to choose from the design and r&d put into these clubs are top notch. Callaway sure has been hitting at all levels from the Epic driver to Apex irons, and now the Steelheads. I’d be so lucky to be chosen to reviews these irons, crossing my fingers.

It’s from the Datatech report used by the entirety of the industry. The report comes out each month. Callaway is currently the number 1 selling iron brand (dollar share) and the Steelhead is the number 1 selling individual model. Callaway was the top brand in 2016, and Steelhead has been the #1 model since its release last year.

I’ve had the XR since they were released, in fact, I was one of the first people to be fitted for them at Callaway. Hope whoever is chosen enjoys them.
