(4) Testers Wanted: PING i200 Irons

Mutate (verb): To change in form, state or condition

More often than not, golf equipment evolves. Maybe not by much, but it evolves. Everyone once in a while, though, it mutates.

A case can be made that PING’s new i200 irons are indeed a change in form, state or condition over its predecessor, the i-Series.

Or, as MyGolfSpy’s Tony Covey called it, “a Tour-level iron with a little bit of wiggle room.”

i200-group

TESTERS WANTED:

The PING Theory of Evolution usually involves noticeable upgrades from one iteration of product to the next. That’s what happens when a roomful of Ph.D.’s wade neck-deep into product development.

PING says the i200 gives you trajectory control, distance, and forgiveness in a player-friendly package, with a feel that’ll make you rethink your forged good, cast bad mindset. Did PING hit the mark? MyGolfSpy is looking for 4golfers to test and review (and keep) a set of PING i200’s and tell us what you think.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN MGS TESTER:

As you know, MyGolfSpy takes its product testing very seriously. All of our reader reviews are published in our Community Forum (click here to check them out). We expect a lot from our reviewers – writing a thorough, detailed and honest review is a full two-month commitment, requiring extensive range and on-course work as well as participation in the Forum itself to answer questions and discuss product performance with other golfers.

That means to be a potential reviewer you must be a registered member of the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, where you’ll find thousands of like-minded golfers from all over the world anxious to talk about golf equipment.

To apply to the test the PING i200 irons, here’s what you have to do:

– First, if you haven’t already, please sign up for the MyGolfspy Community Forum (click here to register).

– Second, apply in the Official PING i200 Testers Wanted Thread in the Community Forum (click here).

i200-cavity

We’re looking for four golfers from around the world, and will announce the testers in the Community Forum next week.

6 handicap here. Currently playing Callaway apex. Would love to try these as I love my driver a Ping G LS Tec. Hey such a great driver and Ping is known for their irons I have no doubt that these can replace my Callaways in the bag. If they play as good as they look I am going to be extremely happy.

I would love a shot at playing your Ping clubs. For 15 years I lived in Germany before moving back home and pastoring a church here in Missouri. I pastored a church for our American soldiers and their families in Heidelberg and I played with the Ping rep regularly. I played Pings irons my entire time over there and got 3 hole in ones with Ping irons. My specs were red dot and 1/2 inch over length.

Pastoring here in the USA I get many opportunities to play with people in my area and they always want to know what I am playing. My handicap is a 2.3 and I would love to play your irons again. I’m currently playing the Titleist TMB’s.

Hi, I am your ideal tester, because I was going to buy Ping irons away (I’m very loyal to the brand, since 15 years old), and it’s a toss up between the iBlade, getting the good condition S55’s or the i200. I was going to buy the iBlade without any further thought but the other day my local fitter put an i200 into my hand and I was quite enthusiastic about the minimalist look, but I only saw the 7-iron and not the the rest of the rest. I always like to see what the P looks like.
      I am 5 handicap, here’s the specs:
Blue dot, stiff shaft, Ping Gold 1/32″ grips.
I would like to recommend to my fellow Ping users to test their color-code assumptions on the website — they have a guide to fit yourself and it’s really worth it. You see someone to help you do it — wife, whatever. The computer suggested I was blue, and not black that I have used since the age of 15. I am 5ft 9 1/2. To back this up, when I tried the clubs, we put a sticker on the base of the club, and sure enough with the blue dot impact was in the middle of the base of the club, not further towards the toe with the black dot. All a bit nerdy, but hey this is the place for it, right?!

Hi, I am vwry excited about the possibility of being a MGS product evaluator for the new Ping i200 irons.
Growing up playing Hogan Apex forged irons since I was seven years old, I bought my first set of cast game improvement irons in my twenties. They were Ping Eye 2 irons, and the romance was on.
Unfortunately, on my desire to keep up with the latest game improvement technology, I did not feel that Ping was keeping up with other offerings so I switched over to Callaway Forged X irons, which I still play today.
I am back in the market for a new set of irons, and would be honored to evaluate these new i200 irons, especially since they are promoted as having the feel and workability of a forged iron, yet with the game improvement qualities I need as I have gotten older.
      Thank you for your consideration.

      Irons played beginning in 1984:
      Ping Eye 2
      Ping Zing
      Ping Zing 2
      Ping i15
      Mizuno MP 30
      Ping i20 (concurrent w/ Mizzy MP 30)

I’ve hit Ping Ansers, Ping S 55, and Ping iE
Now considering Ping Blades and i200s.

Who better to test and evaluate these irons but a tried and true “Ping guy” who can use both i20s and forged Mizuno MP 30s as “controls”. Help me decide what my next set will be…..

I would love to try these out! Have a set of Mizuno’s that I love but have always liked Pings.

I loved ping, but after my sets were stolen for the second time I decided maybe it wasn’t meant for me to play ping.

Had the Ie’s, had a custom fit and bought these bad boys. Not a great deal of distance variance but better accuracy with 7-W.

Very happy and would suggest anybody with a set of clubs older than 4 years would see a massive upgrade
