(6) TESTERS WANTED: SkyCaddie LINX GT GPS Watch/Shot Tracking System

Way back in 1968, Smuckers had the bright idea of combining peanut butter and jelly in one jar. Whether the inventor of the idea was too busy to open up two jars or simply hated the idea of using two knives is unknown, but the two-in-one combo idea was a hit, and Goober is still on the shelves nearly a half-century later.

What does this have to do with golf? Fair question.

A GPS watch/shot tracking system is another one of those two-in-one combo ideas that sounds absolutely brilliant. Sure, there are already several shot tracking platforms out there (Arccos, Game Golf, Shot Scope), and there are more GPS watches than we can name.

But putting both together, can that be done? SkyCaddie thinks they have it figured out.

SkyCaddie LINX GT 12

Testers Wanted:

SkyCaddie’s new LINX GT can work as a stand-alone GPS watch can be synched to your Smartphone for an HD overview of the entire hole, and – with the addition of SmartTags – provides automatic shot tracking with full round statistics. No tagging required, and your phone doesn’t need to be in your pocket.

Does the LINX GT sound like a shot tracking/GPS game changer? Is it golf’s version of PB & J in one jar?

We need six avid golfers to help us find out.

I’d love to try this out. I used to use the Garmin gos watch but then picked up a range finder. Wouldn’t mind going back to a gos watch and give this a try. Especially with it syncing to my smart phone. That is for the opportunity!

Others have been on the site far longer than I have. That said I was adding a range finder because my GPS doesn’t know exactly where the flag is on a given day. I don’t see how this product solves that problem.

Love the fact that you can use the watch as a stand alone device and then also use it to keep track on your round. And, you don’t have to keep your phone on you which is a plus.

To boldly go where your GPS has told you – except in the creek, the cow pasture or the beach of no return. Sounds like a great piece of kit for Canada.

I play 2-3 times a week. I’m using the Arccos 360 with my Apple Watch version 2. I’m curious comparing the two devices as I’m a tech guy (working computers since the late 60s). 14 handicap and age 63. Let me know.
