There are times when a golf company really steps outside of the box. They’ll do something completely unpredictable, and totally out of character. They might even catch us completely by surprise. Friends and loyal readers, this most certainly IS NOT one of those times. {CHECK THIS OUT!}

THE RUMOR MILL – PING Anser Adjustable Driver

Jun 25, 2012 | 17 Comments

So why are we talking about PING, drivers and adjustability on MGS if they don’t have one yet. Hello….McFly…anyone home…McFly? Maybe because it looks like a PING adjustable driver is going to be released. A couple weeks ago our blog compadre over at Golf-Patents.com showed golfers a first look at some patent drawings (listed below) for a possible new PING adjustable driver. And while the drawings were pretty cool, one of the MyGolfSpy friends on Facebook took it to the next level. {CHECK THIS OUT!}

Today Cobra launches their new “Ferrari Collection Driver & Apparel”. First it was Taylormade and Porsche Design…then Callaway and Lamborghini…now it’s Cobra and Ferrari partnering up to produce golf gear. So, sounds like to me if you’re a golf company and you want a high-end premium line you better hurry up and call one of the few remaining elite car companies to collaborate with before they’re all taken. {VIEW PICS!}

2013 Taylormade RocketFuel Driver?

May 30, 2012 | 40 Comments

Well…Taylormade just put in a trademark application for the name “RocketFuel”. So I’m guessing they think RocketFuel is even better than RocketBallz. But…that’s where you guys come. Since we didn’t poll you guys last time to get your opinions on the RocketBallz name we thought it would be a good idea this time around. So…what do you think about the name RocketFuel? Is it a good name for a golf club? Is it better than the RocketBallz name? You tell us…and well Taylormade…because I know they are reading this 😉 {GO VOTE!}

FIRST LOOK! – Nike Method Midnight Putters

May 17, 2012 | 26 Comments

We got a glimpse of the rumored Nike Method Midnight Putters a couple months ago. Although today we wanted to share some in-hand pics of the soon to be released models. Now it’s no real surprise that Nike has decided to keep the “Method” putter in its future line-up. Especially after its almost immediate success on tour and with consumers. The Method models (with their polymetal groove technology put Nike putters on the map. And today you get to see the “dark side” of their franchise flatsticks. {VIEW PICS!}

SPY PIC! – Taylormade Goblin Putter?

Apr 3, 2012 | 39 Comments

First there was the Taylormade Ghost…could the Goblin be next? Well…Ghost & Goblins do go together like Frank & Beans…but I probably wouldn’t go betting on this ever making into the Taylormade line-up. This came across my desk the other day as just a concept a designer was working on. So…no word on whether or not the Goblin will ever get the go ahead. I see quite a few of these…although this is definitely one of the more interesting ideations I have seen in quite some time. {MUST SEE!}

JUST ARRIVED! – 2012 Nike Golf Masters Package

JUST ARRIVED! – 2012 Nike Golf Masters Package

Mar 29, 2012 | 26 Comments

Nike knows packaging…and this one didn’t disappoint that’s for sure. Might sound like a minor detail…but stick this same putter and pair of shoes in a brown corrugated box like every other golf club comes in and it just doesn’t have the same effect. These hand-made wood boxes with slide in embossed plexiglass and custom cut-out interior showed off what was inside pretty damn nicely. Yeah green and yellow might not be your favorite color combo…but when it revolves around the Masters opinions seem to change. HAVE A LOOK FOR YOURSELF! {See What’s Inside?}

Carnahan Golf – Burnside Prototype Putter

Feb 15, 2012 | 27 Comments

The Carnahan brand is becoming a familiar name with quite a few of the MyGolfSpy readers. We actually introduced the wedge and putter line-up last year at the 2011 PGA Show…although I have known about the head designer (Chris Carnahan) since 2007. For those not familiar…Carnahan Golf is a boutique golf brand located in Portland, Oregon whose designs are all about vintage, clean, classy and timeless lines. {MORE INFO!}

SPY PICS! – STX xForm Milled Putters

Jan 17, 2012 | 15 Comments

while they still have a more non-conventional look and feel to them compared to other milled putters…the response from our readers was quite surprising. We released the first ever seen “spy pics” of the new STX Xform 1 putter on our forum last week and the response was almost 100% positive. I have also received quite a few emails and private messages asking for us to do a review of this model….the MGS readers seem to really like the fresh new look offered by the STX Xform 1 model. {VIEW PUTTERS!}

SPY PICS! – 2012 YES! Putters

SPY PICS! – 2012 YES! Putters

Jan 16, 2012 | 26 Comments

YES! putter lovers can breath a sigh of relief..not only was the brand brought back from the dead by Adams Golf…they also kept the same look and feel including the C-Groove technology their cult like followers grew to love. Sounds pretty simple in theory when you think about it. “Don’t fix what ain’t broke” …but more often than not new owners have other plans for brands they purchase on the cheap. This could have easily become a house brand at your local Dick’s Sporting Goods and would have been all but forgotten about by now. >> {VIEW PUTTERS!}

SPY PICS! – 2012 Odyssey ProType Putters

Jan 9, 2012 | 11 Comments

Question: Insert or no insert in your putters? Which do you prefer?

Well…for most of you out there…one of the first things you think about when the name Odyssey putters comes to mind is the insert. Actually they started plopping them into their putters “way back in 1999….they called it a “Stronomic Insert” But the material actually got its start back in 1991 when they made an entire mallet putter from the elastomer material. >> {VIEW PUTTERS!}
