The Clicgear Accessory-fest

The Clicgear Accessory-fest

By Dave Wolfe

Sometimes education comes from unlikely places.

I have a friend who, like me, uses a Clicgear pushcart. To be totally transparent, most of my friends use Clicgear carts. Anyway, one of my friends was telling me how he was going to buy a new cart since the top strap was broken on his cart. That’s a pretty strong product testament. The strap broke and he was ready to buy another cart.

I suggested he hold off since I thought that replacement parts are available through the Clicgear USA Website. Since I happened to be sitting in front of the computer, I checked into it for him.

That’s when my education began. Yup, you can buy spare parts directly from Clicgear, but that wasn’t the revelation.

Clicgear Accessories-01

I have a purchased a few basic Clicgear accessories over the years, but I never realized just how many cart accessories are available.

Go ahead, guess how many.

Short answer is a lot!

That got me thinking….if Dave, Golf Spy, and lover of push carts, had no idea that Clicgear offers so many accessories, then perhaps the push-carting mygolfspy readers didn’t know either.

And so, to fix this lack in our collective accessory knowledge, today I want to give you the complete rundown of Clicgear pushcart accessories guaranteed to give you everything you need to Pimp Your Pushcart.

Clicgear Accessories-02

The Basic Clicgear 3.5+ Accessory Set

The Clicgear 3.5+ comes stock with a side mounted cup holder and an umbrella holder that clips under the console when not in use. Both of these are extremely useful. The cup holder’s use is obvious, and if you haven’t used an umbrella on the cart during a hot, sunny round then you really are missing some shady comfort.

Pretty standard stuff here, but hold on, we are now going to dive deep into the Clicgear rabbit hole.

Console Accessories

Let’s start with the accessories that we can add around the console.

Many of these accessories will utilize Clicgear’s accessory mount. I bring this up first because even if you are not using a Clicgear cart, the Clicgear accessories can still likely mount to your cart via the easy to attach accessory mount. Any cart with 1” tubing should work with these accessories. Accessories that utilize the umbrella port will also screw into the port on Sun Mountain carts.

Accessory Mount

Clicgear Accessories-24

Use this mount to attach the Clicgear accessories to your Clicgear cart, or any cart with 1″ tubing.

Large Cup Holder

Clicgear Accessories-04

Holds larger beverages than the standard cup holder, mounting to the accessory mount. This is the critical accessory for those days when you need the large beverage (i.e. coffee, soda, or beer in a “man can”)

Clicgear Spacer

Clicgear Accessories-06

This spacer screws into the umbrella mount on the handle and raises the mount by an inch or so. Though that doesn’t seem like much, it can be the critical elevation to get the umbrella above eye level or the GPS mount above your hands.

GPS/Phone Holder

Clicgear Accessories-09

Odds are that this one will become a Phone/GPS holder rather than a GPS/Phone holder. Regardless, it works well, securing your device to the mount via a stick-on disk. One suggestion is to get a second case for you phone since the mount isn’t needed during off course time.

Watch Holder

Clicgear Accessories-14

A watch GPS, or your normal watch, mounts easily to the cart handle via this clever little clamp. Nice little gadget for someone who likes the simplicity of the GPS watch, but is not into wearing watches on the course.

Cart Mitts

Clicgear Accessories-21

Winter is coming. For some of you, it’s here already. Though I am not a huge fan of cold golf, I still play it. These cart mitts should help me to keep the hands a bit warmer this season. They attach to the push bar via Velcro, so you won’t accidentally drop them on the wet grass. The soft, furry lining should keep your digits warm when the degrees plummet.

Clicgear Towel

Clicgear Accessories-18

Though I have used Clicgear carts for years, I never knew what the mount at the front of the console area was for. Now I do. This towel has a Velcro strap that fits perfectly through the plastic loop, securing the towel forward from your feet, and rearward of your bag. The towel has a bit of scouring pad-ish surface inside for really dirty clubs and balls. It is actually pretty effective at cleaning your balls.

Umbrella Angle Adjuster

Clicgear Accessories-12

I am a recent convert to the cart with umbrella club. I scoffed at it until I tried it myself this summer. Getting the direct sun off of you is a huge deal during hot rounds. Though the stock Clicgear comes with an umbrella mount, and it works pretty well, this one’s adjustability really allows you to change the angle of the umbrella for maximum sun blockage. Don’t hate on the umbrella. Once you use one, you’ll be angry when you forget yours at home.

Clicgear Accessories-22

Snack Storage Accessories

Cooler Bag

Clicgear Accessories-34

This bag is a must have in my book. The Cooler Bag mounts directly (and cleverly) to the underside of the cart, providing both dry storage and insulated storage. Both storages are ample, with the insulated section easily holding a six-pack of tall cans. Now you can pack libations for the foursome. The Cooler Bag is huge in capacity, yet tiny in profile. You will need to get under the cart to access it, but that won’t really be a challenge.

Cooler Tube

Clicgear Accessories-29

The cooler tube mounts to the standard accessory mount, providing you with a small, insulated storage container for your round. It holds about two cans and an ice pack. You are not going to be the foursome’s refrigerator with this one, but it should hold enough to get you to a turn refill.

Rangefinder/Valuables Pouch

Clicgear Accessories-25

If the large enclosed console on the Clicgear is not quite large enough, this is your best add-on storage option. It features a double closure system. The magnetic flap allows for quick in and out, while the zipper keeps it closed when easy access is not the objective.

Clicgear Accessories-37

Play Accessories

Cart Seat

Clicgear Accessories-46

Unlike the other accessories, mounting the seat will take a bit of mechanical aptitude…just a bit. Three bolts off and then back on again to be specific. You mount a small plate to the left wheel that stays with the cart, even when folded, inserting the seat component when you are ready to play. The seat moves on a sliding, spring-loaded mechanism that allows it to sit on the ground when you sit, and then retract when you stand. Those of you always waiting on the group in front of you will want to pick this one up.

Booster Clip

Clicgear Accessories-41

Does your favorite bag not quite fit the bottom bracket? No worries, this clip elevates the bag a bit, providing a mounting base that should enhance the fit of otherwise hard to fit bags.

Shoe Brush

Clicgear Accessories-39

This is another one of my favorite accessories. The shoe brush attaches easily to the bottom of the cart, and stays put while you use it to clean the grass and gunk from your spikes. The bristles are strong enough to last multiple seasons. Again, likely a must have accessory.

Rain Cover

Clicgear Accessories-57

I don’t ever set out to play in the rain. Not my thing. I’ve been caught in the rain though and this cover would have done a way better job at protecting my bag than the standard rain hood. It covers the whole bag, and yet it still gives you lots of zippered access to you clubs. If you love the rainy round, this will keep your gear nice and dry.

Umbrella

Clicgear Accessories-42

For me, this is to keep the sun off, but I assume it would work for rain too. Great thing about this umbrella is that the handle has a round profile that allows it to fit snugly into the umbrella mounts. The vented canopy profile should help with the wind, while the 68” diameter keeps you dry/shady.

Clicgear Accessories-60

Cart Transport and Storage

Wheel Cover

Clicgear Accessories-63

Another must have accessory. If you are tired of grass and goose crap in your trunk, get this wheel cover. It effectively covers the three wheels of the cart, and comes with a small bag for storage when not in use. Excellent design, and very effective.

Travel Bag

Clicgear Accessories-65

Are you taking your Clicgear on the road with you? Do you want to keep your cart and accessories all in one nice zippered package? If so, this is the bag for you. The Clicgear 3.5+ slips right inside, still leaving lots of space for accessories and/or golf shoes. It’s well constructed, though I would hesitate to trust it to an airplane baggage handler toss do to its lack of padding.

Storage Hook

Clicgear Accessories-67

A simple, yet effective way to get the cart up on the wall when not in use. Screw the hook to the wall, then hook the cart on when you get home. My one-car garage makes this one a must have for me as well.

Don’t Forget The Spare Parts!

Clicgear Wheels-1

There are lots and lots of replacement parts available should something need replacing. Straps, struts, handle foam, brake parts, and more can be had for less than I would have expected. You can even order replacement wheels if yours get worn out, or if you just need to add a bit of color.

Clicgear Wheels-2

The Fully Loaded Clicgear

DSC_0185

Odds are you are not going to go quite whole hog on the Clicgear accessories like I have here, but at the same time, I bet you can pick out the accessories that could make your cart more functional, and your round more fun. Remember, even if you own a different brand of cart, many of these accessories will work out of the box with your cart, or are only a single accessory mount away from compatibility.

Regardless, Clicgear has the accessories you need to upgrade your cart fast and hopefully make your next round less furious.

I realize this article was published 2015, but do you know the accessory mounts for Clic Gear and Sun Mountain are compatible? i.e. can I hang a Clic Gear cup holder on a Sun Mountain cart or vice versa?

Does the cooler for the Clicgear model 3.5 fit model 4.0?
      Thank you

I believe it does, but I’ve not attached it to one personally so I’m not 100%.. It looks like the legs are the same on the 3.5+ and 4.0. Email Clicgear to be certain though.

I bought a Clickgear 3.5 golf cart in 2018 which came with a cup holder – too small to hold any water bottle I have found. Where do I find, or who makes, a water bottle that will fit in the standard cup holder. Love the big orange wheels!
      Thank you, Kendall Ewing

I’ve lost the holder that secures the umbrella tube to a 3.5 cart handle. Is there a replacement part available? Thank you.

Forgot the best ever clicgear accessory…the cozy. Now my Ping Hoofer can be used for the cart, carry/stand or the clickgear.

I played with GolfSpy Dave when I passed through Sacramento a couple of weeks ago, and I was very impressed with his Clicgear cart; completely optioned out!! It made my Sun Mountain bag and MicroCart look tiny in comparison; the wheels are huge. It would certainly be nice to have, but it would not be practical for me because my wife and I both walk, and I could never get two carts, bags and luggage in the trunk of my car for road trips. I am not even sure that I could get just the carts and golf bags in my trunk!

Still rocking my OG Clicgear 1.0 (I bought almost brand new from a guy for $100 when the 2.0 came out) with the inflatable rubber tires with a cooler tube (had to add an accessory mount), umbrella mount, and wheel cover.

If you have > 4 accessories, i think it might make you a cart ho. However, when do the spinners come out? that would b a nice little distraction for you money games?
I’ve had my eye on one of these, but not in the budget…..yet.
