First Look: PING i200 Iron

PING’s new i200 is making its official tour debut this week, and so here’s your factory-authorized teaser.

Our initial thought is that the i200 appears a bit more refined than its previous irons in this category. Clean lines, nothing overly bold in the back cavity, and not much in the way of clunk.

Looks pretty nice, right?

We expect to have a full report for you in the not so distant future.

Basically there are 3 categories. Blades, Semi Cavity and Full Cavity
All there is left for company’s marketing from manufacture to separate from another manufacture is appearance

IMO, who cares if they look like Tm or other.
Are ugly or nice? Looks pretty cool to me.
I assume that in 2017, it will be a lot better than what it might look like in all aspects.
The result of an evolution in science and knowledge.
      Will try it for sure.

I spoke with our local PING rep yesterday an he is saying mid feb in Fitting carts and “order” for a early March release. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Just great irons. PING always sells truckloads of their i-series irons. This will clearly be a dominant club in 2017. They’ve removed the badges and bling, and per my PING employed source, they’ve concentrated on ONE THING with the i200; distance control via consistent spin across the face. Solid clubs for all handicaps – 20 cappers as well as Lee Westwood class ball strikers.

People see what they want. They are WAY different. I have hit the i200, very nice. But I prefer the iBlade

From the photo, to me it looks like a combination of the i25 perimeter design (and possibly its progressive set design) and the S55 cavity. All with the new iBlade finish. It will be interesting find out. I do like the cleaner cavity look.

Need to see it in person (and hit it too) before I can really judge. I do like the clean cavity; I’m not concerned as others are that the cavity resembles some iron from 15 years ago.

Doesn’t matter what they look like from behind. It’s how they look at address… Besides, it’s really what’s under the hood that counts. I’m pretty sure these will perform much better than the RAC OS.

As has been said in other forums on this subject, they look like a combination of S55 and TM Rac irons. Don’t understand changing their philosophy of the iron name (iE1, iE2,etc. and now i200)? And I’d like to see them keep some blue accents similar the most current irons as well. That said I think they look ok but would really need to see them in person. And then see if they are as forgiving as the latest model which is pretty good.

Yup and speed limits dictate how fast cars can go but doesn’t mean new models aren’t coming out each year and doesn’t mean people don’t want to test drive them

just love it when commentary gets profound
