First Look – PXG Bat Attack Putter

PXG, purveyors of everybody’s least or most favorite (perspective, right?) brand of premium-priced golf equipment, has just announced its new Bat Attack putter.

Inspired and in use by Women’s World #1, Lydia Ko, the Bat Attack is a face-balanced, mallet-style putter, with a high MOI. The signature Bat Attack wings are exactly one ball width apart, which PXG says is designed to help with alignment.

The putter’s body is milled from aircraft-grade aluminum. The 304SS milled face is supported by PXG’s TPE insert for enhanced feel and consistency across the face.

Specifications

The Bat Attack is available in weights of 350g, 375g, and 500g. The wings of the heavier models are constructed from tungsten, while stainless steel is used in the 350g model.

Retail price for the Bat Attack is $550. As it should always be, fitting is included in the cost.

I got this putter with PXGs military discount for $95; it works great. It feels similar to the TaylorMade Spider your putter; I would of never paid the full retail for this though, I would save that money maybe for a Scotty Cameron.

One of the best is the Cleveland Classic….and you have enough cash left over to buy a driver at full MSRP.

It is just a over hyped putter and a design copy. There is no innovation and R & D in designing this putter. Such brands will phase out like the way, the so called premier golf ball companies are facing threat from Snell golf ball manufacturer.

The Cleveland HB putter has a milled 304SS face as well for $99.99. But hey, if you think spending $450 more will make you more putts than have at it!

$550 for a putter – yep, definitely out of the average golfers price range.
I don’t care how great you think they are – at that price, it doesn’t matter. I’ll never pay that for a putter, driver, woods or wedge. Ridiculous! But, like a Jaguar – I’m sure there’s a market out there for someone, perhaps the top 1-3% of the golf market. I guess if you’re only going to sell a hundreds, you need to maximize the profit.

It would help sales if Lydia Ko was putting well with it. Her putting is not looking good this week at the Lotte Championship.

Finally, someone is making a high MOI putter that’s heavier than a stick. And, it’s priced is the same bracket as other boutique brand putters. I like it.

If you make a few putts that earn you a few skins, $550 is worth it. Hard to justify a Cameron much less this but according to Mr. Parsons, you get what you pay for.

Just out of the price range for most golfers – PXG is for a very wealthy person who has no budget regarding golf gear – Still have not seen any of there product in retailers in Australia.

Too many putters with this design. Not saying it’s a bad one – I like it. But it’s time for something new. Odyssey perfected this design with the #7. Then Scotty, now this. Bring on the change.

I think PXG is great for the Rich Golfer, certainly not looking for mass marketing and getting a set in every home….

Only 550.00 What a bargain. Will it do something special. As PT Barnum said, there is a sucker born every minute. Go For it, in fact buy 2 so you can have an extra.

Yet another brand to jump on the Odyssey #7 bandwagon – hot on the heels of the Ping Sigma G Tyne Platinum, the Scotty Cameron X5, the Evnroll ER5, the Wilson Infinite Midway, the Cleveland 2135 Elevado, the Rife General Black, and the Bettinardi innovai.

Perhaps there should be less BS about Lydia Ko and more acknowledgement of the fact that Odyssey came up with this shape first and the world followed.

Well said. I have been stuck on the Odyssey #7 ever since I first stumbled upon one years ago. I get interested every time I see another brand trying to replicate but when I see them it is just never quite right.

Jojo – so I assume you also think that Odyssey “jumped on the band wagon” when they released everyone of their blade putters with an Anser head shape? Everyone in this industry does it and it’s not like that #7 style is that groundbreaking.

You sound like a Callaway employee…because Odyssey stole the anser style 100 times over yet you think the #7 is truly groundbreaking.

      So?

So what’s your point? Yes, they all copy each other when designs work. Hollow irons, putter shapes, adjustable driver tech….. The question is, is there something better about theirs vs others, and maybe some think the feel is better. But just because it’s copying another putter shape, why does that make it invalid? Seems like a dumb argument

That’s unfortunate, I was really looking forward to your approval on its aesthetics before I even tested its performance. Perhaps Lydia will reconsider when she reads your comment.

Blocky, heavier, more expensive Futura. Hard pass. Anybody can put lead tape on their putter and call it high MOI. 500g putter lol
