MORE PICS! – BUBBA’s PINK PING G Driver

There’s still not much we can say about the technology that powers the upcoming Limited Edition Bubba Watson Pink PING G Driver, but you’ll definitely want to pay close attention to the trailing edge where VORTEC is emblazoned above what appears to be slot in the rear of the driver.

What do you think? Are you at least curious?

I like it, I traded in Cobra last year for Ping’s, first few rounds were hard but after 5 rounds I was down 4 strokes average for the next 10, finished the year 3 down versus the prior year (foot injury in August didn’t help of course). My view, Ping’s are worth it, they are not flashy but they are highly engineered and customized, I am sold on their equipment and low marketing approach.

A little too busy for my taste. Too much with turbulators too. And I’m not sure how Bubba can look at that ugly ‘striped’ pink driver either – just too much going on there. Hopefully the driver overall is as good or better than the G30 it replaces though. Ping makes terrific clubs overall and hopefully the senior designers they lost to PXG won’t affect the products they produce going forward.

There’s a huge vortex coming off the circular-section hosel. How about detachable and adjustable spoilers for golf clubheads?

You could 3D print each spoilers and apply them to any clubhead, provided there was a suitable method of attaching them.

I for one am curious. Ping has done a lot with drivers in the last few years.. My one question is will this vortex actually help the swingers with a speed of 95 mph and less? Looks nice so far.

      Hi Golfspy guys!
I always follow your excellent info site, thanks.
Having been reported to me that couple seasons ago Ping’s international VP came onto the Williams Racing Golf booth at a golf show in Europe, saw our Williams racing designed aerodynamic designs with what we call ‘Trip’ on top of Driver club head and on sides of club head called Winglets, and on soleplate the channel and Diffuser, he exclaimed without introducing himself,,’ what shxt is this’ !! and promptly denounced our aero designs and modulus rebound forged faces with various tensile strengths according to loft to maximises rebound;distance and carry. A number of show samples went missing and we then found Ping making and selling aerodynamic heads with what they called ‘turbulators’ and aero package..so I have to dare say he may have had a second thought on trashing aero designs and followed on from what he saw by making their own..Nice guy..not! Our clubs have been out since 2010 and our aero package designs and modulus rebound MR faces have been tested in UK and proved to accelerate club head speed and thereby attain longer carry and distance with very little dispersion!! Perhaps you would be so kind as to check out our website..we have been trying to get through to your company for some months now..and if you would like test samples , please let us know as we have some in the USA right now!!
All the best and thanks for keeping tabs on the golf market!
      Cheers,
      James.

So you are accusing the Ping VP of stealing your samples? Innuendo and rumors are below Williams Racing’s reputation. If your designs are patented then go after Ping in the courts otherwise don’t attack Ping’s reputation without proof, if you are an actual representative of Williams.

James, Go for it! I’d love to see you take some of the “copiers” down a notch. As a engineer whose had his work stolen by competitors, I’ve enjoyed working with lawyers that wrote some great cease and desist letters. Sometimes they work other times you have to sue. You might have a good case since the pictures of your clubs look like Ping’s are a dead copy with different colors. Looking forward to seeing your products in the US.

I did go to the Williams Racing Golf website and I have to say that the comparison is eerily similar.

I would love to see the Williams line up close and personal in the States. My son is a F1 fan as well as a final year engineering student at Arizona State University.

      Best of luck,

He may be wrong but he is only stating his opinion that much of what is done year to year is all hype to sell another model year of clubs… and really is he wrong … each year every manufacturer HAS to come up with a new “break through” club to retain market share through advertising the next best & greatest OR lose sales to the other companies who have a new improved model on the market. I think your insult is misplaced, and as an aside he may not only be good enough he may be better (than you) … experience tells me that “bark” does not always mean better, just louder …. Mellow out a little ?

In return for my appreciation of your considerate manner..i would be happy to send you a Williams Racing golf hat in way of thanks.Where can i send to?Your views are pretty much on the spot..as the big brands copying each other or introducing new product 3 or 4 times a year..! striving to retain market share as they have huge overheads..and results in devaluation of product bought by consumes within 3 months!!

      Hi Jim Brown,
Walmart is known as Asda here in UK.Its a great shop..for food..Sports Direct are number 1. in low end sporting goods.I wish I had more money..thats for sure!..and as others seen who have posted messages after checking http://www.williams-racing-golf.com website there are similarities. Sorry to have upset you.Just sticking up for ourselves here.

James, I think the comment was meant for me since he was replying to my comment. I don’t respond to ex-US pro football players who I’ve seen try to play golf. His swing is awful and he has a bad temper…

      james

      Hi Steve,
oh..ok.apologies , I wanted to clarify that with hindsight I came on a bit strong on the Ping thing..i do feel justified in sticking up for who I work for.If it is Jim Brown ex footballer and I think actor , then that’s a shame I upset him, as even though I am over the pond in UK..i am sure I remember him in films , and I have met through golf a few film guys, actors,tv stars, film directors and they all love golf and enjoy finding new equipment.
I thank you again for your advice..and if I can arrange anything for you in the way of demos or a WRG golf hat etc..let me know!
      cheers,
      james.
