Want Rickie’s Hi-Tops? PUMA has you covered.

As we mentioned…or at least tweeted during our coverage of the PGA Show, Rickie Fowler’s PUMA Ignite High Tops, henceforth known by their official name, IGNITE HI-TOP SE, are coming to retail.

That SE stands for Special Edition.

ignite-hi-

If you’re so inclined, you can pre-order now for June shipping. Limit one (pair) per customer. $200 and supplies are apparently limited. I suspect some of you will surmise the same about demand.

I suspect the fact that this is Rickie’s shoe will be enough to entice a few of you to get your credit cards out, but for those interested in specific details, PUMA describes the new shoe thusly:

ignite-hi-sole

Built on the TITANTOUR IGNITE foundation and constructed for increased stability, this tour-proven cleat is designed to perform. Featuring IGNITE energy return cushioning and PWRFRAME technology, this Hi-Top is all business on the course. Equipped with premium leather, perforated pig skin lining and a perfect fit velcro strap, this Hi-Top is sure to turn heads on the course.

FEATURES

  • IGNITE Foam provides energy return and responsive comfort
  • PWRCOOL powered by Outlast®
  • External TPU Heel Support
  • Hi-Top Support Collar
  • Pigskin Lining
  • PWRFRAME Technology
  • Perfect Fit Strap
  • Full-Grain Leather Upper
  • Duoflex improves natural movement and provides necessary support
  • 2 Year Water Proof

Ignite Hi-SE

Change is Upon Us

Roll your eyes if you so choose, but this high top HI-TOP thing isn’t going away anytime soon. The Ignite is coming. Keegan’s Jordans are nearly old news. Nike’s Flyknit Chukkas are available right now, as are Michelle Wie’s Blazers…and I promise you more (probably a lot more) are on the way. Golf’s look…its apparel, its styling, its individuality, it’s evolving rapidly. This new generation of PGA superstars comes with fashion consequences, and frankly, I’m loving it (joggers notwithstanding).

So if you’re wondering if I’d actually wear the Ignite HI-TOP SE, the answer is a resounding hell yes. I’m not sure how they’ll look with shorts, but whatever, it’s a look that works just fine in the NBA. That’s what you call crossover appeal.

Ignite Hi-Top SE

I’m planning to wear the Chukkas too. And as long as we’re discussing evolving and potentially disruptive fashion, as soon as the weather warms, I’m going to squeeze myself into Nike’s man tights and see how that goes too.

A revolution is upon us. Evolve with it, or cling to your triple-pleated khakis, either way, there’s no shame in embracing your individuality.

Pre-Order Rickie Fowler’s IGNITE HI-TOP SE Today. You know you want to (unless you know you don’t).

What do you say? Would you be willing to wear these on the golf course?

The only people allowed to wear these are Ricky Fowler and Marty McFly.

Jokes aside, you show up in these you better have game, haha.

I’m Rickies age and I still don’t think these are doable. I think the concept has some traction for bad weather and support but the design of these is just awful. The Nike ones are a bit less ugly. They look like ankle monitors are attached. No no no. I think this is going to dissapear from retail just as quick. Rickie may ride them till the wheels fall off tho haha

I would never wear such a shoe for most rounds of golf. I much prefer my Eccos. That said, this type of shoe would sure be helpful when golfing in monsoons or following the thawing of our frozen tundra. I am going to be teeing off in about 3 hours for my first round of 2016. I already know that there is a good chance that as I stroll down the first(and all subsequent) fairways, cold liquified tundra will be pouring over the tops of my eccos.

For those who think they are stupid evidently their ankles do not hurt like mine do or have a pin in one. I guess my ankle braces look stupid too. Well so be it. I actually played in high topped skateboard shoes or Converse Chucky Ts for years. I mean I will say someone is entitled to their opinion but calling something like this stupid is way out of line. i guess some one handicapped with their motorized wheel chair at Wally World is stupid too.

Thanks Stu, I too wear a very ugly brace and a good high top might just make a round more enjoyable. Who cares what they look like as long as they are functional.

I’m not demanding velcro, but that would be interesting. The BOA closure seems to be the rage these days, so I just thought that any newly designed golf shoe would naturally have the latest and greatest and laces are old school. With that being said… I like old school.
