No Longer Just A Rumor
A couple weeks we gave you a glimpse of what we thought the new Ping Anser Adjustable Driver would look like…and this week the design was confirmed. Ping also shed light on a new wedge soon to be released, called the Ping Tour Gorge wedge. No word yet from Ping how they will define the word gorge/gôrj/…but a quick google search will tell you what they think the word means:
Noun: A narrow valley between hills or mountains, typically with steep rocky walls and a stream running through it.
So what does this mean for all the golf gear head junkies wondering what the hell the difference is between these grooves and any that came before it. Well this time Ping is doing the milling of these grooves in-house at their plant in Phoenix…they say to allow them to hold the milled grooves to tighter tolerances which will maximize the groove’s performance. Kind of makes you wonder about the tolerances or lack thereof in all the other clubs you play huh?
Ping Anser Adjustable Driver
Sticking to their recent favorite choice of colors…the new Ping Anser driver will be matte black. Regarding adjustability, it will allow for adjustments to be made to the loft by plus or minus 1/2 degree. It will be available in 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts. The head will be 460cc and hit the ball 19 yards farther than the G20. Kidding…just making sure you’re still paying attention (for those that just scanned down to the pics). We’ll have to wait until the review before we can say anything along those lines.

Ping Tour Gorge Wedges
Like we said previously on the wedges, the “Gorge” grooves are being milled in their plant in Phoenix to supposedly allow for tighter tolerances. They are also claiming they found a new way to cut the grooves to maximize the spin on the new Tour wedges. They will offer 3 different sole configurations to match players varying swing styles. They are expected to be available in mid-August.

I hit the Anser driver today, by far the most impressive numbers I have ever seen, the hosel is shorter then anyone else on the market so the 10% of weight they save there is repositioned in the clubhead, super low spin from the head. the 4 face settings are amazing, closed looks square, square looks a touch open, open looks like 3-4 open and flat..well it looked the same as square..its a real bomber with the ahina diamana
