PING S55 Irons – Concept (Artistic Rendering)

PING loyalists have been waiting for the S55 irons for what seems like an eternity. We’re know they’re coming…eventually, but few outside of PING actually know what they look like, but MyGolfSpy reader @jovineri has some ideas.

He’s been doing this sort of thing for a while.

He pairs the stylings of the OEM’s recent releases with the details he finds in patent drawings. Top it off with a little of Jovi’s personal artistic sensibilities, and bam…we’ve got a new concept for a golf club. More often than not, Jovi’s concepts end up looking quite a bit like the final product.

Is that what the PING S55 Irons will look like?

What do you think of the Jovi’s concept rendering?

Should PING copy it, tweak it, or do something totally different?

Share your opinion.

Close but no cigar. Have seen the product through photo and it is unreal! Not a dark finish, still has its great looks and is a combo of two other models already in the line but not the gorge rendition seen above. However the model # logo for s55 on the club is pretty good. Must say I am stoked for the release here in late fall!

The rendering looks nice, but I don’t see how you could do a rendering and not add more elements from the patent pictures released. They seem more plausible since the patent pictures would continue on with Ping’s stabilizer bars in their irons. Maybe try some rendering on the patent pics instead of mix and matching parts from the current Ping line up.

I also don’t see them looking like the gorge wedges that were already released at the beginning of this season, especially not in the longer irons. I really hope Ping does not make their player irons that finish. Nick had it right about the black finish wearing out and that isn’t too Ping like to me. Just my thoughts though. Either way I kept hoping everyday for Ping to announce the S55 release date. Come on already!!!

Chily dip I understand the business side of it by not showing them but the fact is everyone and his sister knows ping s55s are do out in the fall so I understand not showing em in golf mag but a simple ipad shot for something small like golfwrx or in here is no big deal. Ping knows full an well that the equipment junkies in here all know there being released soon, so it wouldnt be big deal. By the way that snark remark about me not good enough to play em is a joke, I find the 56s very forgiving but Im looking to get some new irons and since I loved the 56s and had em forever Im looking into these, I would get i20s but they have way too much bounce fr my swing so the s line is the only ones the really fit me in ping.

I had ping fever for awhile now and the fact that they are waiting forever to release them let alone a simple spy teaser Im loosing that fever and thinking of looking at buying something different. So just by the fact that ping is playing conspracy with these irons they just lost a customer. Oh how I hope ping reads this.

Seriuosly why are they hiding photos , what do the get by doing that, they are treating this like its a matter of security, everyone knows there being released in fall so what is the big deal about showing an ipad photo the the public BIG DEAL, its so rediculous its only a stupid golf club not government secrets here. Its almost like solheim doesnt want people on golfwrx to see it to spite them because he knows everyone on there wants to see em, I will bet thats the reason why he doesnt want anyone to see the dam club. To be honest with you if I saw them by now I PROBABLY MOST LIKELY would buy them, now Im not . Hows that for spite Solheim .

Ron, there is this little thing called “sales numbers”. The second you release pictures of an s55 irons, the sales of s56 drop to zero. What incentive does ping have to release pictures to you early? Also, if you choose to not purchase a players club (one you previously thought would improve your game) because of a delayed photo release, you weren’t good enough to play them in the beginning.

I love the look and can’t wait to upgrade from my s57 set! Fingers crossed that they play as good as they look.

I hope they aren’t a dark finish. It wears so fast then looks bad. If somebody is buying this iron it means they are good at golf, which usually means they golf more than average. I am waiting for this iron to be released as they might be my next iron set. I think the g15 iron color looked really good. I think the g20 was a little to dark. I like satin.

I would be highly shocked if the s55 irons are that big of departure from the s56s. There really isn’t much that ping can do to improve upon the s56s.

Yes, I used a an S56 product picture as the base. But I added a cavity from the Gorge and a badge from the G25, so it is a rendering of currently existing concepts and fusing them into one photo.
