SPY PICS! – 2014 Adams XTD Lineup

It seems like only hours ago we brought you Spy Pics of the new Cobra Driver, and now we’re  excited to give you a first look at the 2014 Adams XTD Lineup.

What we’ve got are pics of the new driver, fairway, and irons.

As you can see from the photos both the driver and the fairway woods are adjustable. As has become the signature of the XTD woods line, the fairway appears to have titanium construction, which in addition to arguably increasing distance, most definitely increases the street price.

Adams XTD Irons – A Slotted Adams Iron!

It’s the XTD Irons that will surely spark the most conversation (and by all means, discuss among yourselves). The cavity bears a striking resemblance to last seasons awesome CMB irons, but upon not-much-closer examination, they share an unmistakable point of commonality with TaylorMade’s RocketBladez.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before the slot found it’s way over from TaylorMade. As you’ve probably heard by now; if you don’t have a slot, you don’t have a slot, and well…slots are probably good (I’m not being facetious, I believe it’s legit technology).

Based on what I see, it would appear the XTD qualifies as a player’s cavityback.

Ok.

What’s really interesting is that XTD irons (if you believe what you read) are forged. This is the first time we’ve seen a modern forged iron with a slot. That alone should make the XTD a compelling option for some, and no doubt opens the door to a world of future possibilities from both Adams and TaylorMade.

Stay Tuned. It won’t be long before we have a firm grasp on the direction Adams is heading.

I went to the demo day caravan ,today tried ,..the Amp Bio,X hot 2,the Bertha, the Covert,And the Adams XTD .
First I have to say I am a short swinger, with a 84 to 86 mph speed short back swing with a super good release ,always steady straight not over thrown but good follow trought. To much dispertion and no roll dead ball with the Bertha, long with X hot but ,to much dispersion due to 46 inches length shaft..OVERALL THE BEST.was the Adams XTD regular Shaft red tie 9° loft because I am a highball guy..and it was simply easy deep and superb mid flight …I liked this muted sound like persimmon of the old days ,but with much more kick and bounce ,the ball
simply gets the air with ultra nice borring flight every shots dead center one after the other I
could have shape with a faster swing and stiff but regular was PERFECT.
BRAVO. TO Adams they brought bag wath pur essence of golf is.Joy to the World for 55 years old Golfer.#1 in all aspects.for a 9 handicaper.

SECOND POST: I also recently bought an Adams XTD Super Hybrid 15 degree. After one day with this club, I sold my Taylormade RBZ 14.5 degree 3 wood (which was supposed to be the longest fairway woods ever made), because the XTD hybrid can hit just as far, give or take 5 yards depending on conditions, and with much more consistency and accuracy. Adams is impressing me with performance on the course.

What works for one doesn’t work for others. I recently tried the Taylormade SLDR and Jetspeed. I bought the Jetspeed. No noticeable difference for me between the two. Both felt pretty good. Pretty good results compared to the R11 I played before. Then today I hit the Adams XTD Ti driver on a high-end swing analyzer. Same loft as my TM’s. A solid center hit with both drivers (XTD and Jetspeed) were about the same distance. But what was amazing was that with an off-center hit, I lost about 20-25 yards with the Jetspeed, but stayed pretty close to full distance with the XTD. TM touts the Jetspeed as ‘forgiving’, but it cannot compare to what I saw today with the XTD. So I bought it, traded in my Jetspeed, and went to the driving range and hit a large bucket… freakin’ amazing. Don’t judge this driver by it’s unique look. The Adams XTD Ti is the best driver I’ve ever hit. Period. Age: 53. Handicap index: 5.4. Swing speed: 102 mph.

The 3 and 4 irons in this set are the
ADAMS Dhy utility irons. I think that they will be a nice set of irons.

      Just me though!!

Hey I hate to say it but anyone who calls a club ugly before seeing it in the playing position is kind of a goober

      Kind of a Goober?

Nah Dude, I’m definitely, not kinda, a Goober, lol.

It’s just me, though if I don’t like what a club looks like, either in my hands or as is the case here, in a picture, that’s it. It ain’t gonna get the address position opportunity.

Looks, in my clubs and my women, don’t grow on me.

And there is no need to compromise.

They’re are enough clubs out there, be it a driver, FM, hybrid, iron, wedge or putter, that suit my eye, that never, in 46 years a playin, have I ever hadda problem findin a club that fit my eye initially, at address & performance wise.

My bag’s in the forum “WITB” section- under RPJ II

Check it out, I got pretty good taste ;)

      Have a great Autumn!

So what is supposed to better about these than the ones they released in spring? The FW looks like the the last FW but black… The irons look like the old Taylormade R7s

These products look great!!! Love the lineup from top to bottom. That FW is the best looking FW I’ve ever seen – you can’t go wrong with mirrored PVD. And what’s there to dislike about the irons? Ummm. Nothing.

Have a set of CMB irons – they are just gorgeous AND play great. Those prototypes are definitely not in the same realm as far as looks, but I will save my judgement until I can see them in person. It’s nice to have a set that looks beautiful in the bag but it’s how they look at address that really counts. I play the TM ATV wedges and originally thought they were ugly but then when you put one down behind a ball they are awesome.

Will be interesting to see how a slot so close to the leading edge will perform. Hope they look better in person!

I don’t even see “Adams” on the irons. Are these prototypes?
Not a fan of the driver. Looks cheap. Especially the red weight. I love my Super LS woods!

First, I’m a big Adams fan. I bagged the 9064 for 2 1/2 seasons(which is an eternity for me), still have the 9032LD in my rotation & currently bag the Idea Super LS XTD Ti 3 FM(15*) & the Super LS XTD Ti hybrid(19*). Though not everyone’s cup of tea, I also have the G25 in my rotation and I really like the matte finish.

The irons though, look like sh*t. Cheap & TMaGgish, which I was hoping Adams could stay away from, lol. I’ve played Mizzy blades for 27 years and through last fall(when I bagged the Staff Fg 59s) I have only had one non-Mizzy iron in my bag in those 27 years and that was in ’09, when I played the Adams Pro Gold Muscle Cavity Backs(3i-PW). I chose them over the Mizzy MP 67s, and they were absolutely gorgeous.

Looks are very, very important to me. Yes, feel is obviously important, though if I don’t like how an iron looks, sorry, I’m never gonna hit it, so feel’s irrelevent. That’s just the way it is. And for me, these irons pictured are some cheap lookin, ugly assed irons, lol.

      It’s just me, haha.

      Have a good one

I love Adams but these look terrible. No worries though…since they’re now owned by TM they’ll have a new set available a few months after these hit the shelves.

Why change a perfectly good looking logo to this hideous font? And something in the design tells me TM designers who designed the fugly SLDR extended their hands into these latest adams designs, which looks hideous!

The MB, MB2, CMB, and even the Super S looks great – this XTD iron looks like a component club from Hireko!

I don’t know about the “looks”.I’ll have to see them in person. I do like the fact that the woods appear to be matte black. I think functionally that it is a great finish Pings recent models “Anser” accuracy results could support that claim…… but Looks are just that “looks”. I’m interested in how they perform. Adams hasn’t exactly been behind the times in my opinion. And most of the changes they make seem to be well thought out.
