New Poll Section (GO VOTE!)
You might not have even noticed…but we have a new poll section at the bottom of the site. It’s kind of small and not very obvious (we will have to work on that). So…if you have not seen it yet…go check it out and vote on something way more important then whether or not you feel Sarah Palin is an expert in foreign-policy because she lives near Russia. By the way I flew over China recently, I woke up after the flight….and I couldn’t believe it I could all the sudden speak fluent Chinese…this thing might be catching on.
We Want Your Opinions
Poll voting is not the only way you can have your opinions heard at MGS. You can also have your opinions read by over 40,000 monthly readers by commenting on any of the articles we write…or you can send in your own articles about the golf industry…you never know we might publish it. Hell…if it is good we probably will publish it…give our hands a breather.
So onto our first MGS poll…The first poll question was:
“Are you tired of all the new releases by TaylorMade Golf?”
- 81% – Either said Yes, you are tired of all the new releases or that you don’t buy them because of this.
- 23% – Said No, they did not think they released too many products.
So what does these numbers really mean…well obviously it means that you feel like they do have too short of a product life cycle. But it also means that TaylorMade should really start to think long and hard about what they have started here.
Try To Name All The Clubs Released by TaylorMade in The Last 2 Years…You Can’t
Before long golf clubs will be all but a commodity. I feel it will severely impact the golf club industry if they continue down this path. Actually it is already has…but it’s only going to get worse if they continue. For one it will almost surely put most the small-mid sized golf companies like MacGregor Golf out of business…over time golfers will forget who they are. BTW…that is the plan from TaylorMade. Secondly, it’s not good for the consumer, because the product becomes all about quantity and not quality.

It is and has been my belief for at least 4-6 years, all the big majors Taylor, Callaway, and Ping to follow with Acushnet, is to sell direct and push out the small stores and even ranges. I have been a decent size player in the business for the past 16 years doing a few hundred thousand $ of business with each. It is prevelent Callaway opened the door with Callaway Connect & pre-owned. I think it is thier main goal, it’s the only way they could stop losing $$ on the give away programs & price reductions. they’ll be able to still make all the money and sell for less once we’re out of the picture. thier sales reps can handle the big box stores( that are also getting killed & the local on course Pros that for now they still have to coddle. They don’t buy that much so one rep can cover more locations maybe 1 per state or better in order for them to keep thier jobs.
IT IS A MATTER OF TIME THAT US LITTLE MOM & POP’s will be PUSHED TO SURENDER
I wish I new the way, if you guy ahave any insite please advise.
