Vessel – Tour Quality Custom Golf Bags, for Your Less Than Tour Quality Game

Average Joes Get Treated Like Pros

Pretty much all of us who’ve reached an obsessive level with this ridiculous game of golf have dreamed…or at least thought it would be cool to get our name sewn on a golf bag. For Tour pros, it’s a given. Teaching professionals get them too as part of their staff deals.

Wie-2012

If you’ve got an important job like President of the United States, or really…President of just about anything, some golf company is going to be willing to give you the VIP treatment (monogrammed golf bag included).

For the rest of you…the good, the average, and the weekend hacks; if you want your name on a staff bag, the royal bitch of a reality is that you’re going to have to do it yourself. That’s where Vessel Bags comes in.

Vessel has also created the MADE FOR TV bags for the likes of Michelle Wie, Nick Faldo, Nick Price, Christie Kerr, and recently crowned PGA Rookie of the Year, Jordan Speith.

Is the Vessel-made Under Armour Staff bag the key to Speith’s tour success? No…but since this is a story about Vessel, sure…why not.

Money, it’s gotta be the bag.

Hey That’s Great for Speith, But What About Me?

1001603_495953347152685_621710482_n

I’m glad you asked.

Vessel is already pretty much the top staff bag producer for super important people and golf companies, but now they’ve decided to provide the same tour-proven craftsmanship to less than super-important guys like me…and yes…you too. I’m talking about direct-to-the-consumer, fully customized golf bags shipped in as little as two weeks.

It’s So Damn Easy

With Vessel’s straightforward, yet reasonably robust online design tool, designing your very own custom bag is filthy simple.

Pick your style

new-step-1

Choose primary, secondary, and accent colors

You can even choose the color of your zipper (though options are currently limited to black and white)

new-step-2

Personalize your bag

Add your logo, some random text, or, yup…your name. Vessel’s bag builder lets you customize the panels, and even the strap.

new-step-3

Pick Your Size and Pay

Vessel’s cart and staff bags are available in 9″ and 10″ tops. Choose your size and pay for your bag (yeah…the paying part sucks).

new-step-4

Stand bags start at $350, while cart/staff bags are priced around $650. Absolutely, it costs more than your off-the-rack, big OEM bag (without your name on it, I might add), but for a high-quality product that’s distinctly yours…with Vessel, you get what you pay for.

I find it interesting that some people have no qualms about blowing $50 per week / $600 in 3 months on daily lunches that they could make healthier themselves at a fraction of the cost with just a little bit of effort, but freak out when presented with a quality product they could no way produce themselves for the same price. Whether it’s a golf bag, or something else that’s nice, you sometimes have to pick and choose your expenses and how you decide to spend your money.

Not a snowballs chance in Hades I would spend that much on a golf bag.

Can’t believe all the hate for spending $650.

If the bag that arrives at your door is half as cool as the one in the picture, money well spent. And MGS gets a $100 discount.

Anyone who has accomplished something in life they are proud of and loves golf would know that this company gives golfers an innovative way to express that.

Great looking bags for sure. If I could afford one I’d own it, but then again, if I could afford a Bentley I’d be driving one. I agree with one point above where it was said that “my money is better spent on new gear that will help my game”… Great stuff as usual though MGS – I’m always looking forward to what you guys come up with!

These bags are great and all but, I agree for this steep of a price I would rather spend my money on equipment that would improve my game. Not saying I wouldn’t take one for free should you be handing them out. Another solid write up none the less.

      Thanks

It’s good that they offer something like this, but I really don’t like the shape of those bags. Not as nice as the ones that the bit boys put out.

The purpose is to have a place that a player or companies like myself can get a custom bag for extra advertising or so unique that you can`t get anywhere else, that is why I had my bag made by Vessel and let me tell you that I have received only compliments from my clients and vendors, and it is a eye catcher at the course. For $350 I did not blink to get it, I don`t play with friends only clients or reps, and it can help me land a big contract, and once I get better on the course I will get the staff bag, here are some pics.

      Nice bag! Very tasteful appearance.

Can one get a tax write off for some or all of the cost, as it’s providing advertising for your company?

That is sharp! if I had a business I would definitely get one, and it would be an advertising/marketing write off!

Thanks a LOT for the review of the Vessel bags.

Expensive, a bit…but would imagine that they are very well built and will last quite some time. Hmmm, would imagine that one of these bags would outlast the several sets of clubs that will likely pass through them over a couple year period. I realize not all golfers chase the newest thing out every month, but many do. Over a couple of year period, the bag becomes the cheapest “article” you’ve spent your hard earned bucks on and continues to look good and spread your “advertisement” or whatever you’ve put on it. Doesn’t take many $300-$400 drivers, shafts, new irons, putters etc to grossly exceed that $650 expenditure for you own custom golf bag. Toss in a fitting or two by a pro and your new driver and irons (that most of us change out in a year or two anyway) end up costing several $K…might be a good plan to have them in something that will protect them…

      keep up the great reviews!!!

Is rather spend $250-$300 on a name brand bag that looks cool and take it to an embroiderer to get my name on it.. Maybe some matching iliac headcovers with all the saved money

Ouch… So expensive only a real rich dude could possibly fathom paying these crazy prices…
… I think the market is small so they price high hoping just a few are willing to pay… I may price this way for my small business I own… Why sell 300 pretzels a day when I can instead sell just 4 a day @$300 a pop lol…
With only needing 4 sales I can spend more time on the links… Haha

These are great. There is definitely a market for these or they wouldn’t be making them – quality looks really good. A lot of what is labelled ‘custom’ is still fairly limited, so it’s fantastic that they haven’t limited the custom options at all.
I could see this as a great opportunity for small business owners as well – even if the business is not golf-related. Heck, if I showed up for a round and was put with a group of randoms we may get on well but never talk about what we actually do for a job … if he’s got “John’s Plumbing” stylishly plastered over his bag (i.e. not with duct tape) at the least it’s a talking point, more likely (if we get on well) I’m gonna remember that name and give him a call when the proverbial is hitting the fan!

Several years ago our club pro, who was sponsored by Wilson Golf, got staff bags for club members that wanted them. We all got our names on them. Way cool!

This is pricey; would I pay that much? No. Is it cool that they offer it? Yes, but you better have the game to go with it!

How long have you been a reader Drew? I think if that answer would have even been longer than one week you would see that we just published the most extensive putter testing done to date and the winner was a putter barely breaking $100.

If you are going to comment with a lack of knowledge about who we are and why we do what we do, at least do some homework.

Do we always have to deal with low-budget items, or can we not show those that would like something like this (a lot of golfers) that there is a company out there that offers it?

Steep prices when you can get OEM staff bags for much less. I can do without the Custom Options honestly, most staff bags / stand bags have a plethora of storage designed in them already. MGS bag looks great though…..
