NEW INVENTION! – The Future For Golf Bags?

Golf Bag Backpack

Why Do All Golf Bags Look Alike?

There is definite room for improvement when it comes to the comfort and ergonomics of the golf bag we all lug around the course.  Golf bags are generally easy to use although because of the strap styles available the load is usually carried inefficiently.  They also take a up a lot of space which can begin to cause problems with many of the current and future car designs.  This bag design takes both the load issue and the size issue bags have and still keeps the bag very functional.

So what do you guys think?  Can a golf bag be UNIQUE?  Tell Me Your Opinion.

I think this would be great. Especially for me living in a big city with no car. Are these bags out there? Would be perfect to throw them on and ride my bike to a course

I realize I am late to this review, but did this bag ever actually get made?

I’m new to golf. Have been looking for something like this. Would be much more comfortable for walking or running a course. Great idea.

Maxfli have a habit of trying this kinda thing, they had the bag with the belt system, 1 strap and a massive belt with the intention of stopping back pain… I had one and it was, erm… crap!!! Didn’t do what it was meant to do at all and fell to bits!!! TBH, this looks just as crazy an idea!!!

Yeah a little wild Simon…but I think the idea does have some merit.

Your butt would rub against the bottom end something chronic, especially for those that dont play flat courses…

I like the concept even though it’s been done with limited acceptance in the past.
As a few have pointed out, I don’t want to struggle to put it on or when taking it off.
My old Izzo bag (yes, really old) is a breeze to slip on and off so that would be a necessity for me.
Otherwise, anything that would allow me to “find” a club without shuffling club heads around would be a plus for most of us.
Good headsup on this concept MGS, keep em coming!

If it doesn’t ease the wear and tear on your back and shoulders, than I would have no use for it.

I think it’s taken from the movie StarWars, I don’t like it.
      What’s wrong with the oldstyle?
Perhaps it might be the future, who’ll know?

Good concept…and yes its been done before, but the clubs heads were down at the bottom instead of near the head and it rolled like a cart ( believe Ping or MacGregor made it?).
Nice concept but think if club head were on the bottom instead up at head would work lot better….just my opinion.

This would mainly be for the walking segment of the market I would assume. But if it was a s big of a hit as the bags we have now compared to the old walking bags. Carts would do the same thing and adjust their strapping system to accommodate.

My wife and I were finishing up at the local muni last week, when we saw an old pullcart/bag which looks suspiciously close to this concept. At the time I commented on how cool that bag was because it was flat and you could identify your clubs easier and quicker. Now after looking at the drawings I still consider this to be a cool concept.

Yeah most of the old pull carts did look like this you are right. I have a couple around here and actually use one from time to time.

      1. this concept will be too top heqvy—like the school kids whose backs are being hurt by backpacks full of books. 2. looks harder to pick up and load onto back than conventional bags. 3. current bags carry load on waist and hips when adjusted properly–even some bags with hip support–I suppose something like this could be devised for this concept. 4. How can a caddy carry TWO of these for a double loop???

Has potential as an evolution of the Sunday Bag…With todays smaller cars it would be a plus as far as something you take along on a weekend trip…

Well it is definitely cool looking, nice to see that a company is pursuing this end of the equipment industry. I am interested what the predicted benefits of this bag are tho.

I think it’s interesting in concept, but what are the benefits/hindrances from having the clubs placed that high up on your back, stacked vertically? I imagine it would make you pretty top heavy, and it would be very difficult to balance the load of the clubs. Can’t say it’d be any good for your back!

Well if you look at the images the club heads are not but a few inches above head level so balance wise it would not seem to be too top heavy. Interesting concept though and I always like to see creative and innovative minds looking past the norm.

It is certainly unique, to say the least.. but i think there’s a good reason why bags are shaped the way they are and have been for so long – and it’s probably not “tradition”.

I picked up a Ping Latitude last year before they brought out the new model. I love the bag, my only gripe is the strap system. I love the bags that have a solid X backpack style strap, they seem to feature more padding and comfort. Looking at the “blueprint” above, I’m actually impressed with the padding that would go into this, as opposed to a little foam cushion on a particular section of the bag.

Further, how would you strap this into a golf cart?

Just as well, the past 2 weeks have been filled with torrential rain. I played my first round of the year last Friday, 2 days after the rain had stopped. Walking 18, 80 degree day on a soaking wet course, not so fun. At least I was splitting the fairways all day. =D

I would think you might get biffed in the head by your clubs as you went scrambling up hills etc. The concept of flat is not bad just wonder if it would work with current harnesses

Seems like that bag would be good for long walks (similar to a camping pack or backpack) but the effort seems to be greater lifting and putting the bag down. The current golf bag only requires lifting of a few feet from the resting position to the waist…this new concept goes from ground level all the way to the back. The only thing this bag solves is for golfers who own motorcycles. Now they have a way to take their clubs to the course while riding their motorcycle. I guess we can all look like those guys on the sky caddie commerical mapping out courses.
