(10) Golfers Wanted: Test Snell Golf Balls

The are are a handful of direct-to-consumer golf ball companies out there. A few  have cool logos, some have interesting stories. Tour-level performance? Well now you’re thinning the heard.

And when it comes to in-house R&D with a proven track record of creating some of the best balls in golf…well now you’re down to just one.

That’s because only one direct-to-consumer ball company has Dean Snell.

Golf Ball Street Cred

Snell, in case you’ve missed it, is the owner, operator, chief cook and bottle washer and the driving force behind R&D at Snell Golf. Snell has been designing golf balls for 25 years and holds 38 patents.  He designed or co-designed a few balls you may have heard of: the ProV1, the Tour Preferred/Tour Preferred X and the Project (a), among many, many others.

You’ve read about Snell golf balls before on MyGolfSpy. They tested well for us, and suffice it to say, we think they’re pretty darned good.  Our readers are singing the ball’s praises as well, so we’re guessing, you may be wondering what all the full is about.

Here’s your chance to find out.

We Need You

getsum-3rd

How To Apply:

We’re looking for 10 golfers to test and review Snell’s latest offerings; (5) to try out Snell’s 2-piece Get Sum ball, and (5) more to try out Snell’s My Tour Ball. We’ll send you each 2-dozen balls, more than enough for you to find out for yourself if the Snell balls are as good as we think they are.

MyGolfSpy takes its testing very seriously, so please read these application instructions carefully.

Easy, right?

Note: You must apply in the Official Application Thread in the MyGolfSpy Community Forum.

Played my first couple of rounds with MTB this weekend. At $32 a dozen worth a try based on previous reviews. I’m a +2 hdcp. Shot 66 today. 18 GIR which I haven’t done in years. I’ve shot mid 60’s rounds this year with Chrome soft as well as ProV1’s.

I’ve been playing the Callaway Chrome soft since it came out last year in between periods of Pro V1 and ProV1x. This ball fly’s just as long as any of them. Seems to spin more on short irons and short shots than event the ProV1x. Might spin a bit too much for the conditions I regularly play. Feel is about like a ProV1. All distances seem to compare to Chrome soft as well as ProV1. After 18 the ball looks like it hasn’t been hit which to me is amazing.

After playing this ball, there is 0 chance of me ever spending money on a ProV1 or X again. However, might spin a bit too much for me on full shots. Fantastic ball at a completely reasonable price point. Buy some you won’t regret it especially if you want a bit more spin with irons and short shots around the green.

Would love to review and comment on new items as this ball seems to be an Up and Comer. I play 3-4 rounds per week plus range time. Play with a variety of balls preferably Noodles, DT Solo, Sxrion, Staff, and ProVi in warmer weather. As a Course Marshall, I have played with almost All brands of found balls. 10 handicap will give this ball a wonderful test on all shot types.

I would love to be a tester for Snell golf balls. I already do testing for Titleist every year and would like to be able to compare them to Snell. I have heard nothing but good things about Snell.

I’ve been playing these for over a year. Send me the 2 dz and I’ll tell you how great they are, how much better than PV1, w/o all the marketing hype or cool name, (although Snell, is fast auf Deutsch). Oh wait I just did lol.

While I don’t need to participate in the test – I already use the MTB regularly – I would highly recommend anyone that hasn’t tried either of the Snell balls to sign up. The MTB is a great ball that performs terrifically in all conditions, works well off the driver and great around the green too. The Get Sum ball seems to be comparable to the E6 ball or other similar balls. Just stocked up on a few more dozen balls for the year – and oh yeah, it’s free shipping too, what’s not to like.
