SPY SHOT – Titleist VG3 Irons

NEW! Titleist VG3 Irons

One of the MyGolfSpy’s vigilant long lens spies has managed to send us in a photo of the new Titleist VG3 Irons which we hear are scheduled for release in September for the Japan market.

Previous shots back in January of the Titleist VG3 Driver gave you a peak into a whole new thought process in regards to design at Titleist.  This was an entirely new concept that Titleist Japan & Titleist US worked together on to create. They wanted to appeal not only to the higher swing speed golfers but also the average club head speed as well.  They did this by creating a Variable Gravity and CG position for different lofts…that is where it gets its name VG which stands for “Variable Gravity”.

Unfortunately up to this point I have not heard if a similar technology will be included in the new Titleist VG3 Irons. We do know though that they will be forged.  We will update you with more info and new photos as soon as we get them.

My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

I just played with a guy who had these irons.
They are actually pretty solid looking.
Think Callaway x forged, perhaps a little larger size.
Basically no offset, reasonably thin topline.
with irons these days being so offset driven (razr) there is a market for a playable no offset club.

Titleist has never made a bad club yet that I have tried. Playing AP2’s for the last 2 years and they feel amazing. I don’t think they are a company that will make a bad club………give them a chance.

I prefer the simple elegance of a blade….but I have to say…….I rather like the cosmetics of these clubs. Did all you guys rage on the ap1 and ap2 this hard? Its titleist dude- you know they’ll feel sweet. But, why are clubs starting to look like transformers?

Titleist should stick to what they know. Golf balls. When they relize the are a ball company they may start making a good ball.

Kudos to the spy who snapped this shot.

The top line appears very thick. The look makes me think that Titleist is intending these as a game-improvement (forgiveness first) set of clubs.

Looks like the 2011 model of the Nike CCi. Iron design is becoming re-cycle and copycat. Cant wait until somene tries to re-launch a version of the Cleveland VAS.

Looks a lot like the new TaylorMade irons… I wonder if this is an attempt to branch out from the AP and MB lines.

No offense to Cobra, but this looks like something they’d put out. I’m specifically thinking of the FP line. For a company that charges an arm and a leg, these look weak.

Not doubting their claim but generally speaking, if you try to make a product appeal to everyone, no one will like it.

Nice looking irons. Big GI cavity look to them. I hope the top line is not as think as it looks on that photo though.
